Jill Biden scurried to the stage after the debate ended Thursday night. She hugged President Biden and then she led him off the stage.

Yikes.

That is some scary stuff, as was the president's debate performance against former President Trump. I have never seen anything like that debate.

To be frank, I was concerned that Republicans were doing a disservice by lowering the bar so low for Biden. As long as he stayed upright and didn't have a freezing episode, he would be declared the winner by the media. You know the drill - Joe Biden is fine. He's vigorous and vital and outworks everyone behind closed doors. Biden's surrogates even accused Republicans of 'cheap fakes' - edited videos that were posted on social media to make Biden look bad. Yeah, right. Republicans don't need to do that, Biden does that all by himself.  

Republicans and the country as a whole are owed an explanation. The Democrats and their fellow travelers in the media have been protecting Joe Biden for four years. They have been lying to Americans. There is no way Biden is running the country. Shame on all of them. 

Most importantly, shame on Jill Biden. This is elder abuse. There is no excuse for it other than her desire for the trapping of power and privilege. She is 73 years old. Jill should talk with her husband today and say that they've come to the end of his political career. 

Within the first few minutes of the debate, Democrats and their fellow travelers in the media began to panic tweet. Biden was bombing badly and there was no getting around that.

You remember Kasie, right? She's the CNN host who cut off Trump's spokeswoman mid-interview as Karoline spoke the truth about Tapper and Bash's past remarks about Trump.

Democrats pondered out loud on cable news stations about how Biden could be replaced, even though it is only about 100 days until the election. He'll have to be replaced at the convention, they said. 

Biden wasn't amped up with some kind of stimulant, that was clear. He froze pretty quickly, though it was a quick freeze. He stared as though he was a deer caught in the headlights. His mouth gaped open. He looked very old and tired, though he'd been at Camp David for over a week. His handlers said he had a cold. His voice was more raspy than usual. 

The contrast between Biden and Trump was startling. It wasn't funny or entertaining. It was sad. I can't believe that the people around him and his family are enabling this man. 

There is no way that if Joe Biden receives a call at 3 a.m. he'll be able to handle whatever emergency came up. 

Biden made some wild claims like the Border Patrol union gave him their endorsement. The union quickly cleared that up.

CNN's political panel looked like someone died. Even Jen Psaki on MSNBC admitted that it was a bad night for her former boss.

Nick Kristof has a piece out in the New York Times that calls for Biden to end his re-election campaign. He names some possible replacements that may run instead of Biden. He comes at it from the point of view that the Biden who showed up at the debate will not beat Trump in November. He wants Biden out of the way so someone who can win (or so he thinks) will run.

Biden can resolve this by withdrawing from the race. There isn’t time to hold new primaries, but he could throw the choice of a successor to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The Democratic Party has some prominent figures who I think would be in a good position to defeat Trump in November, among them Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio, and Gina Raimondo, the secretary of commerce. And there are many others.

This will be a wrenching choice. But, Mr. President, one way you can serve your country in 2024 is by announcing your retirement and calling on delegates to replace you, for that is the safest course for our nation.

Ouch. Kristof is not wrong. 

Biden's performance stunned the foreign press. They still call Trump a liar but that doesn't erase the shock of watching Biden's performance.

The Continent’s leading websites splashed with scathing reactions and commentary about the showdown between Biden and former U.S. President Donald Trump, with many singling out Biden for criticism after a rocky display in which he struggled with detail and delivered halting lines.

Swedish broadcaster SVT declared Biden’s showing “near-catastrophic,” while Finland’s Yle called his performance a “disaster.” Italian newspaper Corriere della Serra said Biden acted “confused” with a “hoarse voice,” and Poland’s Onet declared that Trump “put [Biden] on his back,” calling it “sad to watch.”

“I don’t think anyone expected such carnage … Trump proved once again that his potential victory is bad news for NATO, Ukraine, and by extension — Poland,” Onet’s analysis added.

France’s Le Monde called Biden’s stumbling over his words a “shipwreck,” adding that Trump “was able to roll out lies without contradiction,” while Britain’s Economist said Biden’s “horrific debate performance casts his entire candidacy into doubt.”

That is the First Lady puffing up her husband's disastrous performance that the world watched and screaming about Trump lying. She has to be stopped. She has to be held accountable.

It was a tough night for America. The media owes us all an apology. They have committed malpractice for too long. They went from working with Democrats to destroy Trump's presidency to being cheerleaders for Joe Biden's presidency. They need to be held accountable.
