John Fetterman Defends Congresswoman's Son and It Is Wonderful

Rep. Lauren Boebert's son was arrested on multiple criminal charges Tuesday. When the story became public on Wednesday, Boebert (R-CO) remained silent. Senator John Fetterman, (D-PA) spoke up for her.

Fetterman, once viewed as a run-of-the-mill progressive Democrat more in line with The Squad, keeps proving he is not. He said recently that he is a moderate Democrat, and has never been a progressive when asked about criticism from the far-left. At the time that remark was met with skeptism.

Fetterman posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Boebert's son, who is 18, doesn't deserve to be the subject of ridicule and ugliness on social media. Tyler Boebert didn't sign up for a life in the public's eye. He doesn't deserve "the recreational cruelty" on social media.

Fetterman proves he is a decent man who speaks up when the situation arises. He has surprised conservatives with his behavior since he returned to the Senate from dealing with clinical depression in a hospital facility. For example, he speaks up in support of Israel since the massacres of October 7, 2023 committed by Hamas. Fetterman has posters of Israeli hostages in his office, he waves a small Israel flag as he walks past pro-Hamas protesters on Capitol Hill, and he went up on his home's roof in Pennsylvania to wave an Israeli flag when pro-Hamas protesters showed up at his house.

The senator has come out in support of securing the southern border. When he did so, he commented that he didn't understand the controversy over that opinion. He also recently told longtime Democrat consultant James Carville to "shut the f*** up" when he weighed in on Biden's re-election chances. Fetterman said Democrats who criticize Biden's decision to run again may as well put on red MAGA hats because they are helping Trump.

Fetterman is still a liberal Democrat and votes for Biden's agenda but it is good to see a Democrat who is willing to be a decent human being in Washington, D.C. He sounded like a dad when he spoke up for Tyler Boebert. Leave the politician's kids out of public comments when they make headlines for poor decisions.

I try not to write about the families of elected officials when life happens to them. I write about them when they directly mesh with the politician, like writing on Biden family corruption, but not in general. I think as Fetterman does - it's not their fault that they are in the public spotlight. I've felt this way since the Bush twins were slammed in the press when they were caught drinking alcohol with their friends as minors.

Rep. Boebert has four sons. Tyler is the oldest. She and her ex-husband co-parent the boys. Tyler has a child with his ex-girlfriend. The Boebert family has been in the press several times since Boebert became a member of the House.

Tyler was released Wednesday from jail. He is facing serious charges. He was released after posting $1,250 bond. He was arrested alongside three accomplices. The others are 16 and 17-year-olds. He is also being charged with corrupting minors.

Boebert was taken into custody around 2:30 pm on Tuesday, according to police in the town of Rifle, Colorado, which is part of the district his mother still represents in Congress.

The Republican lawmaker's son is facing nearly two dozen different charges, including four counts of criminal possession of a financial device, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and three counts of theft of under $300.

The other charges range from four felony counts of criminal possession of an ID, a felony count of conspiracy to commit a felony and more than 15 different misdemeanor and petty charges. One of the alleged victims was said to be as young as three years old.

Lauren Boebert gave the Daily Mail a statement. As of this morning, there is nothing on her X timeline that references her son's arrest.

'I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn't ask for,' she said.

She added that her son was an 'adult and father' and should be 'held accountable' just like anyone else.

'It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and, in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track. I will never give up on him and I will continue to be there for him,' she added.

Tyler's father responded to his son's arrest on charges of breaking in and stealing from four vehicles, taking cash, gift cards, a social security card, credit cards, as well as driver's licenses.

He said, 'I know my son is a good-hearted child and still has his whole life ahead of him.'

On Wednesday, Jayson focused on his family, saying, 'My love for my children is unconditional and I vow to stand by them unwaveringly through all of life's challenges.

'Ensuring that I am there for my children regardless of the circumstances is a value I hold dear as a parent.'

For his part, Jayson said, 'I hope to continuously evolve and refine my parenting skills. I have made a commitment to provide the best possible support and guidance to my children.

'Even though I may feel like I have failed at times, I will continue to keep improving.'

I hope Tyler gets his life turned around. Boebert is facing a tough re-election. She moved to a different district this cycle when it became obvious that she wouldn't win in her original district. She has publicity problems of her own, including some inappropriate behavior with a date during a theatrical production in Denver. Jayson Boebert made headlines in January when he was arrested

As Fetterman said, this is a family in crisis. Let's hope they can all get help and take better paths.
