Biden Welcomed Governors to the White House with a Debunked Story

President Biden hosted the country's governors at the White House Friday. Last week, the National Governors Association (NGA) Winter Meeting was held in Washington, D.C.. It is traditional for the president to invite them to the White House.

The governors also met with Kamala Harris, cabinet members, and senior White House advisers. Governors of about 40 states and territories were in attendance. Bipartisan solutions to affordable housing, AI risks, workforce development, and disaster response were batted around.

President Unity hosted a black-tie dinner for the governors Friday night. Biden spoke and once again regaled the audience with a story about his relationship with China's President Xi that has been debunked repeatedly. Nonetheless, he persists. Biden also confused China and Russia.

Oof. That was a mess. He made a point of insisting that the story was a real one, though it has consistently been debunked. The Washington Post gave it three Pinocchios. I would blame his advancing dementia for these kinds of fantasies passed off as real stories by Biden but he's always been a liar. His history in politics is littered with plagiarism and lies. This is who he is, dementia or not. He rewrites his personal history to elevate his place in the world. Most people would be humiliated to be called out on the authenticity of personal stories but not old Joe. He keeps going with them.

Biden's big pitch was for bipartisanship in working with the nation's governors and a need to end the bitterness in politics. He doesn't see the irony in such remarks. Biden is woefully lacking in self-awareness. It is hard to imagine a more divisive president than Joe Biden, and that includes Barack Obama who held that title before Biden's time in the White House.

True to form, Biden botched a quote after saying he wanted to be careful to get the quote right. He stood in front of a portrait of Abraham Lincoln as he spoke. He didn't say Lincoln's name, though, which makes me wonder if he recognized Lincoln in the moment. Biden was trying to make a point about working to end the bitterness in political discourse but failed miserably to string a sentence or two together.

Oof again. How in the world can this man be re-elected to be the leader of the free world when he can't even get through a dinner speech unscathed? I'll note that California Governor Gavin Newsom was there and likely working the room for his shadow campaign for president. I wonder if he sneaked away to measure the drapes in the Oval Office.

Joe Biden has failed miserably as president. He's quick to blame Republicans and everyone else for his failures. He trashes Trump and Republicans in every speech. Biden ran on being a unifier who can work with both sides of the aisle and, three years into his term, he has yet to prove that.

There is a reason that some successful red-state governors were not in attendance. Governor Abbott did not attend. Joe Biden's administration actively works against Texas and Abbott as the governor tries to secure the Texas border with Mexico. Joe Biden opened the southern border during his first day in office and now it is a catastrophe. Biden deliberately created a humanitarian crisis as well as a national security crisis. Abbott is doing what Biden refuses to do and is being punished by the administration for doing so.

Governor Ron DeSantis skipped the event, too. DeSantis is demonized by Biden and other Democrats for his successful leadership of Florida. DeSantis flipped Florida from a swing state to a deep red state. Biden can kiss Florida goodbye in the general election in November.

Democrats have their work cut out for them as they try to get Biden over the finish line in November.
