Ivanka Trump made a very quiet trip to Maui a few weeks ago. The story came out this week that she went to help the residents of Lahaina who have been devastated by the wildfires on Maui. She joined CityServe International on a humanitarian mission.

While she was there Ivanka helped distribute 250,000 prepackaged meals for displaced families. The volunteers visited a Lahaina church that is acting as a food pantry and met with residents. She dressed casually in a black tank top, green cargo pants, and white sneakers. Her name tag read “Iva”. She helped to distribute fresh produce locally grown in Maui. She has worked with CityServe International for four years.

‘Her humble presence lifted spirits and reminded the people of Lahaina that they are not forgotten,’ CityServe said in a statement.

‘Amidst the tears being shed are tangible signs of hope and love, and with the arrival of meals and supplies, our partners and team alongside Ivanka, were hefting boxes of supplies, consoling survivors, and passing out meals to those who’ve lost everything.’

About 6,000 residents of Lahaina are displaced and living in Maui hotels. Another 1,100 are in Airbnb rentals.

The group distributed food, water, produce, gift cards, and other needed supplies to displaced families and individuals living in hotels. They are also providing gas cards and air filters. Residents are advised to not drink the water and to stay away from fire-damaged areas.

An extra bonus is that Ivanka is able to use her connections to get other companies to donate goods.

Next week, a 747 filled with $1 million worth of supplies will head toward Maui with ebikes, electric scooters, electronics, toys, dry foods, small appliances, ukuleles, and several pallets of Jockey clothing – ‘all because of a Ivanka’s connection,’ the group said.

It’s good to see a wealthy, privileged person doing hands-on volunteer work. She could have just written a check and gone about her life in Miami. And she made the trip with CityServe without fanfare. Well done.
