Democrats and their cohorts in the media are sounding a bit racist right now in their reaction to Senator Tim Scott’s entry into the Republican presidential primary. Are Democrats nervous that the Republican primary is more diverse than the Democrat primary? They may be worried that voters will open their eyes and realize that the Democrat primary only has older white people running for president, starting at the top with 80-year-old Joe Biden, and includes Robert Kennedy, Jr.(age 69) and Marianne Williamson (age 70).
I call the reaction from the left racist because that is what they do. Any time someone criticizes a black person, it’s racism. That became the rule during the Obama administration every time Republicans criticized Obama’s policies. It came from a place of racist behavior, not simply a disagreement on political policies. So now, Republicans should say the same about the hideous way the left is treating Senator Tim Scott and his run for president. Fair is fair, right?
Tim Scott delivered an excellent speech Monday when he launched his campaign in North Charleston, S.C. He brought his mom on stage with him and thanked her for raising him as she did, and he called upon his childhood mentor’s wife to come on stage, too. Scott is a man who freely thanks those who have helped him along the way in his life and it’s refreshing. His speech was uplifting, not filled with anger and angst, which was very Reagan-like. Tim Scott can appeal to everyone. He’s a happy warrior.
Scott’s voice cracked during his big announce and Democrats had a field day with that. For example, Rachel Maddow compared him to a character in The Brady Bunch, young Peter Brady, and the episode that centered around puberty and his voice changing. Maddow was comparing a grown ass black man who is running for president to a boy going through puberty. Sounds racist. Racists in the Old South frequently treated black people as children. Is that what Maddow was doing? After Scott’s nephew Ben introduced him, Scott yelled, “Hello, North Charleston!” and his voice went up before the full sentence left his mouth. It wasn’t a big deal and nowhere near the crazy Howard Dean screech that helped tank his candidacy, but according to Rachel Maddow, it was a rough 3 seconds for Scott.
The delivery of those words spurred Maddow to compare them to Peter Brady’s voice cracking as he and his siblings sing “Time to Change” during a 1972 episode of The Brady Bunch.
“That was a rough first three seconds of his presidential campaign,” said Maddow, laughing. “But who knows? Maybe it was just a rough first couple of seconds. Maybe in the end, he will do great. It worked out great for Peter Brady, in the end. He got through it. It was tough.”
Other Democrat operatives ran with that mockery, too. There was little else to be negative about from his speech so Democrats went to that.
At The View, Whoopi Goldberg said that Scott has “Clarence Thomas syndrome.” Sunny Hostin was eager to jump in.
“One of the issues that Tim Scott has is that he seems to think, ‘Because I made it, everyone can make it.’ Ignoring, again, the fact that he’s the exception and not the rule. And until he’s the rule, then he can stop talking about systemic racism,” Hostin said.
Goldberg said he had “Clarence Thomas syndrome.”
Goldberg said that he had done “some good stuff,” but he had to do more as someone who is running for president.
“If you’re running for president, you got to do more than that. You have to represent us as a nation and then say, ‘And as a Black man this is also how I feel,’ but you can’t pretend that it’s not there, that it’s not an issue for the people you’re running – for the party you’re running for. They are, in part, the problem,” she said.
As always, the ladies were keeping it classy.
Tim Scott sat down for an interview Monday with NBC News. Anchor Tom Llamas focused on comparing Scott to Donald Trump. The Trump-deranged media cannot do interviews with Republicans without dragging Trump into the conversation. Of course January 6, 2021 entered the conversation.
“Would you ever try to overturn an election you lost?” Llamas asked Scott during the wide-ranging interview at Charleston Southern University.
“No,” Scott replied, noting he was at the Capitol during the riot.
And, Scott was asked about how Trump responded to his entry into the primary. Scott said he’d welcome Trump’s vote, which was a great answer.
On Monday, Trump responded to news of Scott’s campaign launch by warmly welcoming the South Carolina Republican into the expanding GOP primary field, and he used the opportunity to attack DeSantis, who is expected to jump into the race this week.
“It is rapidly loading up with lots of people, and Tim is a big step up from Ron DeSanctimonious, who is totally unelectable,” Trump added. “I got Opportunity Zones done with Tim, a big deal that has been highly successful. Good luck Tim!”
A really strange attack, to me, anyway, was one that claimed that Scott shouldn’t be president because he’s never been married and he has no children. What? When did that become disqualifiers for the presidency? The thinking is that since he has no skin in the game – no children – then he can’t fully understand the concerns of parents and those who raise children. This is a load of crap but it was coming from both the right and the left. It’s a really petty objection to his candidacy but that’s happening.
One of the top issues is Parental Rights. Tim Scott is 57, never been married and has no kids. IMO he will have a relatability issue. Attitudes/beliefs before kids changes dramatically after you have kids. How can he even begin to understand parents concerns.

The left doesn’t quite know how to attack Tim Scott and they are off to a very bad start. I say they sound racist as a tongue-in-cheek observation but it’s how they would respond to Republicans criticizing black Democrats. You know it’s true. Meanwhile, the entrance of Tim Scott is welcome and presents a positive Republican message. Democrats hate that.
