Texas Governor Greg Abbott wrote a letter to all 49 of his colleagues asking for help with securing the southern border. He asked for whatever help each governor could send. The response was as you might expect – twenty-four Republican governors have agreed to help. There has been no response from Democrat governors. Democrats don’t care about sovereignty and national security.
Abbott urged the governors to help in the federal government’s absence. In Biden’s America, every state is a border state. The first to respond were the governors of Florida and Idaho.
Operation Lone Star is underway with Florida deploying law enforcement officers and special agents to protect the Southern Border in Texas.

The twenty-four Republican governors released a joint statement.
“The federal government’s response handling the expiration of Title 42 has represented a complete failure of the Biden Administration.
“While the federal government has abdicated its duties, Republican governors stand ready to protect the U.S.-Mexico border and keep families safe.
“All states have suffered from the effects of deadly illegal drugs coming across the border, and every state is a border state due to the devastating influx of drugs in our communities. Republican governors are leading the way to address the border crisis by increasing fentanyl sentencing and increasing support for law enforcement interdiction of drugs, among other measures.
“Texas Governor Greg Abbott has exemplified leadership at a critical time, leading the way with Operation Lone Star, and deploying the Texas Tactical Border Force to prevent illegal crossings and keep the border secure. We support the efforts to secure the border led by Governor Abbott.”
Governor Kim Reynolds of Iowa led the effort. Other governors who signed on were Governor Kay Ivey (AL), Governor Mike Dunleavy (AK), Governor Sarah Sanders (AR), Governor Ron DeSantis (FL), Governor Brian Kemp (GA), Governor Brad Little (ID), Governor Eric Holcomb (IN), Governor Mike Parson (MO), Governor Tate Reeves (MS), Governor Greg Gianforte (MT), Governor Jim Pillen (NE), Governor Doug Burgum (ND), Governor Chris Sununu (NH), Governor Joe Lombardo (NV), Governor Mike DeWine (OH) Governor Kevin Stitt (OK), Governor Henry McMaster (SC), Governor Kristi Noem (SD), Governor Bill Lee (TN), Governor Spencer Cox (UT), Governor Glenn Youngkin (VA), Governor Jim Justice (WV), and Governor Mark Gordon (WY).
Governor Abbott and former governor Doug Ducey, of Arizona consistently stepped up where the Biden Administration failed. Governor Abbott continues the work, as Ducey is no longer governor of Arizona. When Democrat Katie Hobbs won the election in Arizona, she said during her inaugural address that the federal government is not doing enough to secure the southern border. Yet, she is not joining in the joint effort with other governors.
In April 2022, 26 Republican governors joined together to sign the American Governor’s Border Strike Force. It was in response to the Biden border crisis through cross-state law enforcement efforts. They share intelligence, strengthen analytical and cybersecurity efforts, and improve humanitarian efforts to protect children and families. Prior to that, the Republican governors (led by Abbott and Ducey) provided ten policy solutions the Biden administration could enact immediately to protect America, restore security, and begin to end the crisis at the southern border. As we know, nothing was done there by the Biden administration. Biden never bothered to respond. Neither did his border czar, Kamala Harris.
The call for help from other governors also was issued in 2021. Governors Abbott and Ducey requested support for border security under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). The governors deployed National Guard, state troopers, and local law enforcement.
This time, Governor Abbott is driving home the point that every state is a border state. “The flood of illegal border activity invited by the Biden Administration flows directly across the southern border into Texas communities, but this crisis does not stop in our state.” DHS busses and flies illegal aliens to every state. There are illegal aliens in every congressional district in the country. The Biden border crisis is intentional. Democrats see future voters and are acting accordingly.
Governor DeSantis stepped up in a big way.
DeSantis said in a news release that Florida “stands ready to help defend the southern border and is deploying assets to aid Texas’ border security crisis.” His plan includes more than 1,000 assets and resources, including sending 800 soldiers, 200 Florida Department of Law Enforcement officers, 101 state troopers, and 20 wildlife officers, as well as five planes, drones, command vehicles and boats.
Idaho will send two state police units. The officers will work to stop drug trafficking in the Eagle Pass area. The troops sent by Florida and Idaho will deploy along the southern border in Texas, including parts of the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Del Rio, and Eagle Pass. Governor Abbott calls the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) ground zero of the Biden border crisis. Abbott visited the RGV on Friday for the first time since Title 42 expired. He credited a smoother transition than expected – so far- after Title 42 expired to the Texas National Guard, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Barriers were built where they were needed to prevent people from entering. Personnel man the barriers. Illegal aliens are physically stopped from entering Texas.
“As far as I know, it’s the first time in American history that a state has led the effort to prevent people from entering the United States illegally. Let’s be clear. That’s the job of the responsibility of Joe Biden and the federal government.” Abbott mentioned.
The Biden border crisis is the result of a dereliction of duty by the president. Biden came into office and on his first day in office, he eliminated the programs and agreements put in place by the previous administration that successfully secured he southern border to the degree that it can be secured.
Abbott has re-started the program of bussing illegal aliens out of Texas to cities that proudly call themselves sanctuary cities.
