KJP: "Unlawful immigration is down"

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stands at the podium in the briefing room and tells some real whoppers with impunity. She does so because she is rarely challenged by the press corps, even when she is clearly spinning for her boss, Joe Biden. The press corps is oddly incurious about facts now that a Democrat is in office, even one known to lie pretty much every time he opens his mouth.

Tuesday Karine Jean-Pierre said that illegal immigration is down and that is an absurd claim, even for her.

I write about the Biden border crisis frequently. It’s important whether the mainstream media thinks it warrants covering or not. A country without secure borders is not a sovereign nation. Joe Biden’s most important responsibility is to protect the homeland. He is not doing that. Illegal aliens have been apprehended from more than 160 countries. This isn’t just a problem of some poor people from Mexico and Central America taking a chance and illegally entering the United States in search of a better life. The Biden border crisis has evolved into a huge enterprise for drug cartels and human traffickers that are taking advantage of our porous border.

A week ago, I wrote that the number of illegal border crossings jumped (again) in March. Each month, the Border Patrol releases the monthly totals. The reports used to come out a few days into the new month. Now the reports are published toward the end of each month. The news is never good and it’s understandable that DHS doesn’t want to acknowledge that month after month.

Title 42 ends on May 11. All predictions are that the crisis of Joe Biden’s making along the southern border will explode. There are tens of thousands of migrants waiting in border communities and tent cities for that day to come. They will flood the border in historically high numbers. So far in Biden’s time in office, it is estimated that 6.5M illegal aliens have been apprehended. The numbers are stunning. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris don’t care. It’s a dereliction of duty yet the Democrats and the press do not hold them accountable. There are no Democrats going to the border and crying for illegal aliens being housed in detention centers. Unaccompanied minors are working as child labor, often in dangerous jobs, to pay off a debt to human traffickers. You know the situation must be bad if the NYT is finally reporting on it at the expense of the Biden administration.

The City of El Paso is preparing to declare a state of emergency. El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser made the announcement earlier this week. This is necessary because of the increase in illegal aliens arriving in El Paso ahead of Title 42 expiring. Many are not waiting for May 11 to arrive.

“We will do it prior to May 11, to declare a state of emergency, for the main reason being we want to make sure we have schools prepared and ready to go, the civic center ready to go and it’s going to be very important that we are prepared strictly for temporary housing,” said Leeser.

Deputy City Manager Mario D’Agostino said there is a possibility that 35,000 migrants could cross the U.S.-Mexico border.

“We keep talking about this potential of 35,000 in Juarez and what I mean those are truly unconfirmed numbers that’s what we’re hearing from intel. But the concerning thing is for hearing that there’s 3 to 4 hundred coming via freight train daily, just freight train entry daily in Ciudad Juarez and so that number, whatever it is, it continues to grow,” D’Agostino said.

Hear that, Karine? The person on the ground in a border city is saying the number is already growing. Hard to argue with him.

“We have over a dozen identified shelters that we would use for emergencies outside of this migrant situation. Those are going to be dependent on how many individuals it can hold we also want to take into account its location, the logistics wraparound services that will be provided,” said Emergency Management Coordinator Jorge Rodriguez.

The city is considering bringing in a third-party contractor to help staff the shelters. City Council extended an emergency ordinance for another 30 days to allow city personnel and resources to care for migrants. Houston is the only city being mentioned if the illegal aliens are to be bussed out of El Paso. As a resident of Houston, you can imagine how thrilled I am to read that.

Until last week, the City of El Paso didn’t think it had a need for additional shelters. Then the number of illegal aliens began to increase, as the date grows closer when Title 42 expires. Now the shelters are at or near capacity and the need is apparent.

Deputy City Manager Mario D’Agostino said the situation is worrisome.

“We don’t have enough shelter space here, we understand that. We don’t have enough transportation out [of El Paso] we understand that,” D’Agostino said.

The numbers are not going down on illegal immigration. It’s only going to get worse on May 11.
