Hillary Clinton: Voters are too stupid to know what will happen in a red wave election

Hillary Clinton has the Democrat talking points memorized and easily repeats them, adding a little twist of her own, during a television interview with MSNBC’s Joy Reid. During the interview on Tuesday’s “The ReidOut”, Clinton implied that voters are just too stupid to know what will happen when the red wave comes and Republicans gain control of Congress. The interview was very much like her “deplorables” comment in 2016.

Host Joy Reid asked whether Clinton believed that voters properly understand the threat the country faces with Republicans projected to retake the House and possibly the Senate in the fall. Clinton responded that she believes Americans don’t “really understand” what that could mean.

“I think that with all of the noise that we’ve gotten in this election season I don’t think that people are really able to grasp that. But more importantly, I’m not sure they really understand the threats to their way of life. They may think that whoever’s chairing a committee, you know, kind of abstract. But the Republicans in the House and others like the chair of the Republican Senate Campaign Committee [Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla.] are on record saying they’re going to put Social Security and Medicare up for a vote,” Clinton claimed.

Here we go again.

Senator Rick Scott’s “11-Point Plan” released in February was Scott’s vision of the way forward for Republicans and the federal government. He addressed federal programs in terms of sunset laws and suggests that federal programs be reviewed every five years to determine their level of necessity. If a federal program is not needed, it can be axed. If it is worthy of continuing, Congress can vote for it to continue. Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden and Barack Obama are on the campaign trail (or doing media interviews) and lying about the plan. For decades Democrats have tried to scare voters into believing that Republicans will take away Social Security and Medicare benefits for senior citizens. It’s all malarkey but you can count on that trope surfacing each and every election cycle. This midterm cycle is no different. The thing about Senator Scott’s plan is that he says that absolutely no Republican senator has suggested that Social Security and Medicare be eliminated. And, no senator has signed on to Scott’s plan – not one. The plan is largely seen as Scott showing his interest in challenging Mitch McConnell for Senate Majority Leader, should Republicans take back control of the Senate, which I think they will.

So, Hillary repeated the trope and expanded it.

Clinton continued, “Now I don’t understand why every American, not just people eligible for those two programs that they have paid into that they have worked hard for, that they have earned, are not up in arms. We’ve got lots of problems right now in our country. We need sensible people to come together to try and solve them. The last thing we need is to make life even harder for the vast majority of Americans because it’s not just seniors who would have Medicare and Social Security on the chopping block. It would be their children and their grandchildren who would have to step in and fill the hole that they had left.”

Voters do know what is coming with the red wave next week and they are voting for it in droves. Voters are early voting in record numbers in many states, like Georgia, and I don’t imagine any of those who are voting for Republicans appreciate being called too stupid for their own good by the likes of Hillary Clinton. Hillary is tone-deaf and clueless when it comes to talking about average Americans.

Hillary also blames Republicans for the vicious attack on Paul Pelosi, because, of course she did. She and other Democrats (like Joe Biden) blame revved-up political rhetoric on only one side of the aisle. Where was she when her former New York colleague in the Senate, now Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, stood and used a megaphone to shout verbal threats to conservative Supreme Court justices over their ruling on Dobbs? He specifically called-out Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch as he said they would pay. Wasn’t that inciting violence? No, according to Hillary, only if it’s a Republican yelling such things.

The former Secretary of State and senator accused Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake of laughing at Paul Pelosi’s attack. That, too, is a lie. As I wrote in a post yesterday, Lake is being accused of this by Democrats but it is a manufactured outrage. She did not laugh and it was in an ad lib kind of reference to the lack of security at Pelosi’s house in San Francisco. Some in her audience laughed, not Lake.

It’s hard to escape a nagging feeling that maybe Hillary thinks that Sleepy Joe has gotten this country into such a mess that she’s the only one who can save the country in 2024. Realistically, I don’t think that will happen but you can never say never with Hillary. She has continued to keep herself on the stage since she lost to Donald Trump in 2016 and refuses to go away. The Democrat bench is shallow. Would Democrats really run Kamala in 2024 if Biden doesn’t run? Will Biden’s ego see the writing on the wall and allow him to step aside for someone else in 2024? There is no indication of that right now. He says he intends to run. Jill Biden wants him to run. He’ll probably try to run.

I’ll end with the video from Hillary’s interview on MSNBC.
