Vice-President Kamala Harris is also known, loosely speaking, as the border czar. Joe Biden has sloughed off some of his responsibilities to her, and border security is one of them. Kamala is very busy these days raising money for Democrats who are about to suffer big losses at the ballot box in November’s midterm elections. She is coming to Austin, Texas on Saturday to do her thing.

This fundraiser is for the Texas Democrat Party. As you may or may not know, a Democrat has not won a statewide election in Texas since 1994. In recent election cycles, Texans have been told that this election cycle will be the one that turns the tide and Texas will be blue once again.

Well, the Democrats’ time in the wilderness isn’t over yet and this cycle isn’t the one they’ve hoped for either. Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke is not going to be the next Governor of Texas and Democrats down ballot aren’t going to win their races. As a matter of fact, the trend is going the other way. Republicans are making big inroads into traditionally Hispanic districts – see Mayra Flores, TX CD-34.

Senator John Cornyn, a Republican, has a suggestion for the vice-president. While she is in Texas, how about a trip to the Texas-Mexico border? He released a statement on Friday calling on her to make the trip since she’ll be in the state anyway. She is supposed to be in charge of border security and migration, right?

“Texans have been forced to bear the consequences of this Administration’s failure to address the border crisis, including the historic number of illegal crossings as well as the tragic rise in migrant deaths, drug smuggling, fentanyl overdoses, and cartel violence,” said Sen. Cornyn. “Unfortunately, the Administration’s Border Czar hasn’t seen the epicenter of their self-inflicted crisis firsthand, which has overwhelmed our border communities and law enforcement. Instead of using our state as an ATM and leaving as fast as possible, the Vice President should go to the border and meet with Texans to understand the very real costs of her inaction.”

Governor Abbott has extended an open invitation to both Joe Biden and Kamala to come take a tour of the border. How do they know what the Biden border crisis looks like if they don’t see what is happening on the ground?

According to a news release from her office, Kamala has added a second event to her day in Austin. The main event is the fundraiser, but she will also go to the LBJ Presidential Library for a discussion on, wait for it… abortion. Of course. What else are the Democrats running on this election cycle? They have nothing but their grievance that the Supreme Court ruled in the Dobbs case to send abortion back to the states. She and other pro-abortionists lie that the Court banned abortion. It did no such thing. It is a state issue now, not a federal issue. Democrats are angry that abortion is no longer allowed up to the time of delivery in some states now.

Harris will take part in a conversation Saturday at the LBJ Presidential Library, where her office said she’ll discuss “the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to protecting reproductive rights.” She’ll join Mini Timmaraju, the president of abortion rights group NARAL Pro-Choice America, during this event.

Additionally, Harris will speak Saturday night at the Johnson-Jordan Reception, a major midterm fundraiser for the Texas Democratic Party. The reception is named for former President Lyndon B. Johnson and Rep. Barbara Jordan and aims to fundraise to help with things like “vote-by-mail assistance, voter protection efforts, community organizing, direct voter contact, and more,” according to an earlier news release.

Will Kamala take the governor up on an invitation to tour the border while she is in Texas? No one is holding their breath. She has to save her energy for blasting Republicans, especially Texas Republicans for being pro-life and insisting on a secure border. Oh well.
