I saw this at Variety earlier today. The story is titled, “MSNBC Cuts Ties Unexpectedly With Weekend Host Tiffany Cross.”
Tiffany Cross, the MSNBC weekend host who was known for running the freewheeling Saturday commentary program “Cross Connection,” is leaving the NBCUniversal-owned cable-news outlet.
Her production staff was informed of the decision Friday morning, according to three people familiar with the matter. MSNBC declined to make executives available for comment, and Cross could not be reached for immediate comment…
There has been speculation that Cross’ relationship with MSNBC was becoming frayed, according to two of these people, with executives at the network growing concerned about the anchor’s willingness to address statements made by cable-news hosts on other networks and indulging in commentary executives felt did not meet the standards of MSNBC or NBC News.
I’ve never watched the show but according to a former NBC-Universal exec, it was a crass comment she made on a Comedy Central show which may have been the last straw (hat tip to the Daily Wire):
This was thought to be the “last straw” that got Tiffany Cross fired from MSNBC- she calls Florida, “the dick of the country”. Hours later she was let go. pic.twitter.com/JqEXTw7LxU

“I say Florida literally looks like the d**k of the country, so let’s get rid of Florida,” she said. She then went on a rant about “Ron DeStupid.” According to Fox News, Cross was fired for “bad judgment.”
“Repeated bad behavior on and off-air. Bad judgment,” a second source close to the situation told Fox News Digital when asked about MSNBC’s decision not to keep Cross…
Cross was previously a fill-in host for Joy Reid’s weekend show “AM Joy” and got her own Saturday program in 2020. There, she was known for her vitriolic statements about conservatives, remarking that there is already a “civil war” happening in the U.S., urged liberals to “pick up a weapon” in the fight for democracy, and called Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas “Justice Pubic Hair on My Coke Can.”
She also warned about “White replacement” on the show and blasted Republican members of Congress as “White supremacists.” Cross recently drew ridicule when she weighed in on the Tua Tagovailoa concussion incident by wrongly calling the Miami Dolphins quarterback Black and his head coach White; Tagovailoa is Samoan, and his coach is mixed-race. Cross had suggested Tagovailoa, who suffered a concussion in a September game, had been put at risk by his coach due to racism.
Good riddance. But speaking of bad judgment, MSNBC continues to employ Joy Reid who offered a novel theory about inflation today on the network.
Joy Reid says people didn’t know the word inflation until Republicans taught it to them. The left wing insanity keeps growing the closer we get to the red tsunami. pic.twitter.com/y7ob2baVei

Only Joy Reid could turn 8% inflation into a GOP conspiracy theory. Honestly, I don’t think this is something I need to spend any time disproving. Some of us were alive in the 1970s and 80s (Reid was too btw) and can remember that lots of people were talking about inflation way back then. The idea that this is an unfamiliar word to American adults is just nutty.
Fox News held a voter panel today made up mostly of people who’ve formerly voted for Democrats who plan to vote for Republicans this year. They showed the panel Reid’s comments about inflation to get their takes on it.
Margaret Nichols, who said she’s a Democrat, laughed and called Reid’s assertion “absurd” as many Americans are feeling the impact of inflation firsthand.
“It’s ridiculous that we’re being told that we’re taught this or fed this through the media as though we aren’t intelligent, individual people that understand what’s happening around us and what’s happening in our pocketbooks,” she said on “Fox & Friends” Friday.
Republican voter Frank Gregory explained that the American public is living with inflation every day, despite being told that they may not understand the situation.
“American voters are not stupid people,” he told host Will Cain. “These people in their ivory towers, they’re the ones with no concept, and they think we’re stupid.”
Finally, it’s worth noting that Reid is one of the people who was downplaying rising inflation as a GOP talking point last year.
On Wednesday, “The ReidOut” host discussed the growing fears over rising inflation affecting the economy. However, Reid immediately framed concerns over inflation as a Republican talking point…
“Consumer confidence is at its lowest level in a decade, according to a University of Michigan survey, and that lack of confidence has translated into a drop in Biden’s approval rating in part because Republicans are seizing on inflation and blaming Joe Biden for it personally. Which is a fun twist after Republicans and Trump maxed out the national credit card on tax cuts for the super rich and a partial wall that Mexico was supposed to pay for,” Reid said.
I guess she deserves points for dogged consistency. Here’s the Fox segment with voters literally laughing at Joy Reid.
