Michael Moore Has a 'Bucket List' for Scranton Joe

It seems as if everyone and their brother has some big ideas as to what Joe Biden should be doing with his remaining 100 days in office. Biden is one of the most unique "lame duck" incumbent presidents in American history having achieved that status after announcing that he was running for another term before being unceremoniously run off the stage by his own party leaders amid a bevy of crises on the domestic and international stages. But actor and liberal activist Michael Moore doesn't want to see Scranton Joe's time in office end so unceremoniously. He wants Joe to Think Big and "go out  a hero." But how would Joe manage that in his current position? Moore has a "bucket list" for Biden to enact on his way out and he's thinking big. Very big." It's mostly untenable because Moore isn't famous for clear thinking on the best of days, but let's see what he has in mind. (Daily Beast)

Michael Moore wants President Joe Biden to leave the White House a “hero.” According to the renowned filmmaker, the president ought to take advantage of “full immunity” and pass a “bucket list” of reforms in his last 100 days in office.

“With a simple stroke or two of your presidential pen, you can make life better for millions of people in ways you never would’ve dreamed possible,” Moore wrote on his Substack on Saturday.

Referencing the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity that provided sweeping protections for “official acts” made by sitting presidents—which has created judicial uncertainty over Donald Trump’s efforts to subvert the 2020 election—Moore argued that Biden can now essentially govern however he wants.

As noted above, Moore wants Biden to take up the executive pen and simply start issuing orders that would never make it onto the floor of Congress. After all... who is to stop him, right? The Supreme Court already issued Donald Trump immunity for "official acts in office, something that has clearly put a bee under Moore's bonnet. Let's assemble a bullet list of the highlights and see what the odds of those things happening might be.

  • Officially declaring the Equal Rights Amendment as “the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution”
  • Eliminating student and medical debt
  • Banning spam text messaging
  • Granting clemency for non-violent drug offenders
  • Pardoning Edward Snowden

The ERA is a non-starter because the process for passing new amendments is clearly set forth in the Constitution and it doesn't involve the executive branch in any way. He's already tried eliminating student debt and the Supreme Court shot him down. (Twice.) Banning spam text messaging sounds interesting, but who would have the ability to enforce such a ban without basically shutting down the internet? Clemency for non-violent drug offenders would be possible in theory but it would involve one of the biggest mass releases of convicts seen outside of Joe's illegal "pardon in place" policy for illegal migrants.

The one thing he could certainly manage would be pardoning Snowden. But why would you? Snowdon was convicted of very serious offenses and releasing him would set a terrible precedent. But then, Joe is on the way out, so I suppose he doesn't need to care about such things. Most of the rest of this wish list is simply a fantasy.

Do you know what didn't make the list? Pardons for himself, Hunter, Jim Biden, and the rest of the Biden crime syndicate. That's what I'm waiting to see, and I have a strong feeling we won't have to wait much longer than November 6.
