Kamala's Voters Are Just Racist... and Sexist Also

If Kamala Harris has all of the momentum behind her as so many poll analysts insist, how is it that she isn't opening up huge leads across the board? I don't expect you to take the admittedly provocative title of this article at face value, particularly coming from a curmudgeonly conservative such as myself. But in this case, I'm not the one making the argument. Would you instead take the word of Barack Obama, the person many suspect has been running the show from behind the scenes ever since Biden's disastrous debate with Trump? During a rally in Pittsburgh yesterday, Obama struggled to explain the nominee's struggles in the polls, concluding that the Harris campaign "lacked the energy" of his own campaigns and that Black male voters " just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president." Allow me to just say, "ouch." (NY Post)

“We have yet to see the same kinds of energy and turnout in all corners of our neighborhoods and communities as we saw when I was running,” Obama, 63, said at a “Black Voters for Harris” event in Pittsburgh, ahead of a rally for Harris.

“I also want to say that that seems to be more pronounced with the brothers,” he added, referring to black men...

“Part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you’re coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for that,” Obama claimed.

Again, don't come pointing the finger of blame at me. He said it. But it seemed to be a rather remarkable admission, even if it slipped out accidentally. Talking about "low energy" and a lack of enthusiasm really sounds like he's calling these Black male voters "lazy," doesn't it? He then accuses those same voters of "not feeling it" when it comes to a female president. Note that he's not talking about Harris in particular, but any female president. That's a weirdly broad attack on a demographic group that Harris will need badly in the swing states.

But if you don't want to take it from me or from Barack Obama, how about Harris' own pollsters? They recently concluded that Harris is viewed more favorably by Hispanic women than Hispanic men.

A solid majority of Hispanic women have a positive opinion of Vice President Kamala Harris and a negative view of former President Donald Trump, but Hispanic men are more divided on both candidates, according to a recent poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

Hispanic men are also more likely than Hispanic women to say Trump is the candidate who represents their views on key issues, underscoring the potential importance of this group, which both candidates have courted aggressively.

What are we to take away from that? Are we to assume that Hispanic men are opposed to a female president just as Obama apparently believes about Black men? If so, what chance does poor Kamala have in the swing states? You can't afford to lose both Black and Hispanic voters in a tightly divided state and still carry the day. Yet we were assured that Harris was the unifier who encompasses all racial profiles. She's Black(ish) herself, with an additional mixture of Asian and perhaps Cherokee for all we know. Something isn't ringing true with all of this. Is it just possible that Harris' record is simply too weak and she is tainted with the failed policies of Joe Biden? Naw... that couldn't be it. I must be missing something else.
