Update, 10:52 pm ET: Nikki Haley avoided the sweep tonight with a narrow win in Vermont. With 97% of precincts reporting, Haley leads 50.4/45.7 over Trump, but that's from a total of 65,000+ votes. Haley isn't running close anywhere else, at least not yet.

Since it's Super Tuesday, all of you political addicts out there will want to keep up with how the general election matchups take shape. Here are some of the races for state seats on the east coast that we'll be keeping eye on. At the bottom of the post there will be the usual widgets where you can check the results at your leisure.

Alabama House District 1

This race became interesting because of the recent redistricting decisions rendered in Alabama. District 2 should be a cakewalk for the Democrats given the way it was mapped out, but the changes left two Republican incumbents fighting for the seat in District 1. Jerry Carl (R) and Barry Moore (R), are running against each other. The Cook Political Report ranks the 1st District as R +28, making it one of the most conservative districts in the nation. Meanwhile, the Democratic primary in District 1 was canceled. Tom Holmes will run for the Democrats in November so at least they have a name on the ballot

North Carolina House District 1

The Democratic primary was canceled here as well, so incumbent Donald Davis will run in November. Republicans Laurie Buckhout and Sandy Smith are facing off for the GOP ballot slot. Buckhout is a political newcomer, but she's a military veteran and a small business owner. Smith is likewise new to the game and she lists her professional experience as a business executive, entrepreneur, and real estate investor. This is a very competitive district, but the GOP will be putting up a female candidate either way.

North Carolina Governor

The GOP primary for the Governor's mansion is a three-way race between Dale Folwell, Bill Graham, and Mark K. Robinson, with Robinson having gotten the nod from Donald Trump. Politico recently called this contest "The most important governor's race in the country this year." Folwell is the state treasurer while Graham is a former District Attorney. Robinson is the current Lt. Governor and appears to be a strong supporter of Trump.
