Okay, let's talk about the Mexican UFO hearing and the "aliens"

I wasn’t even sure if I was going to cover this event originally for reasons we’ll get to presently. But I received so many questions and requests, including from people on our own team here that I figured we might as well get this all out in the open. So buckle up, my friends. The ride will likely get a little weird from here going forward.

Back in June, the United States Congress held a hearing on UFOs where whistleblower David Grusch made extraordinary claims about a beyond-top-secret alien craft recovery program, claiming that the United States was in possession of multiple craft and even non-human biological evidence. (Presumably bodies.) This week, the Mexican government held their own hearings on the topic of UFOs, or UAP (unidentified anomalous phenomena) as the government wants us to call them. The main item on the agenda was allegedly to develop language for a new bill establishing the “Aerial Space Protection Law” for Mexico. Several keynote speakers were invited, including some who have testified before the American Congress.

But the audience was in for a shocking surprise, assuming everything presented was actually what was claimed. In June, David Grusch brought us largely second-hand stories from other witnesses, presenting no physical evidence or direct testimony. But Mexico seemed to be trying to step up their game significantly when they invited controversial journalist and UFO researcher Jaime Maussan to come out on the stage. He wheeled out what he claimed were two mummies of alien beings that had previously been discovered in a mine in Cusco, Peru. We’ll get to the question of how “real” any of this might be in a moment, but you can read plenty of additional details in this report from USA Today.

The creatures, with their tiny bodies, three-fingered hands and elongated heads, looked like something right out of a Hollywood alien invasion blockbuster movie.

But if UFO researcher Jaime Maussan is to be believed, the remains he presented to Mexican lawmakers are the real thing.

Some of Maussan’s prior claims have proven to be false but earlier this week, the famed journalist and self-proclaimed UFO expert appeared before Mexican lawmakers, where he presented the remains of what he claimed were two ancient “non-human” alien corpses. The bodies, he testified, were retrieved in 2017 from Cusco, Peru before radiocarbon dating revealed them to be up to 1,800 years old.

You can see the supposed corpses in this brief report on the Mexican hearing from NewsNation.

In the interest of fairness, we can’t say with any degree of certainty that Maussan’s supposed aliens are fake. To his credit, the tiny, mummified, or perhaps even petrified remains certainly look interesting and, well… alien. He claimed that DNA testing had been done on them, revealing that 30 percent of the DNA could not be identified. He also presented what he claimed were X-rays of the creatures, showing that one of them had “eggs” inside of it and the other had some sort of metallic implant. So who knows? We should allow some time for further investigation.

With that said, what is missing thus far is any offer for independent laboratories to take a sample from the remains and run some independent DNA testing. (We’ll correct that statement later if it’s going to happen. I haven’t seen a full translation of the transcript yet and the hearing was mostly in Spanish.) We could probably use fresh X-rays and a host of other tests as well.

Then there is the initial appearance of the alleged creatures. C’mon, man. They just look so… wrong. Pilot Ryan Graves, who testified alongside David Grusch at the U.S. hearing, also spoke at the Mexican hearing, so he was on stage to get a good look at the “bodies.” He seemed embarrassed to have been there and called it an “unsubstantiated stunt”

We would also be irresponsible if we ignored Maussan’s own background, much of which you can read about in the USA Today report linked above. He has a bit of a “history” in the field of discovering supposed alien remains. Some years back he unveiled what was supposedly a photo of a preserved, mummified body of an extraterrestrial to great fanfare. But it didn’t take some internet sleuths very long to identify it as a museum piece containing the mummified body of a young indigenous girl who had suffered from a deformed skull. (The girl’s body was eventually reinterred at the request of her people.)

That’s not to say that the most recent display is absolutely a hoax or even just an honest mistake by someone who has been desperately looking for proof of an extraterrestrial presence on Earth for decades. But as always, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. And this extraordinary evidence is going to require some extraordinarily careful and thorough scientific testing by independent laboratories that will provide transparent results to the public and the rest of the scientific community before we get too excited about it. Stay tuned.
