Ed recently covered the testimony of a former “gender transition manager” at Missouri’s Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and the “morally and medically appalling” procedures being performed there. At the time, Missouri Senator Josh Hawley promised to open an investigation into the horrifying procedures being performed on children at that clinic. But as Ed pointed out, Hawley was unlikely to be able to stir the Senate to action while Democrats retain the majority in the upper chamber. But now Hawley has gained a powerful ally in his efforts. Andrew Bailey, Missouri’s new Attorney General, is riding to the rescue and has confirmed that his office has opened a probe into the clinic, looking into the practices that ” harm hundreds of kids” every year. Missouri’s new attorney general says his office has been investigating “disturbing allegations” that a transgender center has “been harming hundreds of children each year.”
Andrew Bailey confirmed the probe Thursday after whistleblower Jamie Reed, 42, came forward with damning allegations about the Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
A “full investigation into these shocking allegations” was launched two weeks ago, the Republican prosecutor said.
As it turns out, Bailey jumped on this situation as soon as whistleblower Jamie Reed came forward. His office has already taken a sworn affidavit from Reed, along with documents that support her allegations.
A spokesperson for Washington University further claimed that they were “very alarmed” by the allegations and have launched an investigation of their own. That sounds as if it might prove to be a promising development. But at the same time, all of these horrors were taking place right in their own clinic. How could they have had no idea what was going on there?
Bailey certainly seems to be diving into this case with the correct attitude. He described the medical staff at the clinic as potentially being people “who may be more concerned with a radical social agenda than the health of children.” That sounds about right to me.
The staff at that clinic have been giving experimental drugs to children, as well as distributing puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. And perhaps even more alarming, according to Reed, they have been doing this without parental consent in some cases.
Perhaps there is hope on the horizon after all. Investigations like this should have started years ago. The doctors at that clinic don’t just need to be investigated. They don’t just need to have their licenses taken away, though that clearly should happen as well. They need to be prosecuted and put behind bars. This is blatant child abuse and putting some of them in the slammer might send a message to the other supposed medical professionals at too many facilities around the country who are permanently and irreversibly harming children in this fashion.
