The annual meeting of the world’s elite globalists is underway in Davos, with hundreds of influential climate alarmists arriving in their private jets. They have a special guest calling in to some of the meetings by video chat this year, however. Ukrainian President Voldemort Zelensky (er… Volodymyr, sorry) has been making the rounds on the sidelines and this morning he joined a call with Senator Chris Coons, the Prime Minister of Denmark, and Boris Johnson. Rather than simply thanking them for the ongoing, seemingly endless flood of aid that Ukraine has been receiving since the opening days of the Russian invasion, Zelensky “voiced his frustration” over the fact that the allies are not sending him top-of-the-line tanks to use against Russia’s troops. Specifically, he wants to see America’s Abrams tanks and Germany’s Leopard 2 tanks rolling into his country.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy bared frustration Thursday on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s annual gathering in Davos about not obtaining enough tanks from some Western countries to help his country defend itself from Russia.
Speaking by video link at a breakfast with U.S. Sen. Chris Coons, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Zelenskyy offered a veiled critique of countries like Germany, Poland and the United States — crucial supporters of Ukraine — that have nonetheless hesitated about sending tanks.
Zelenskyy bemoaned a “lack of specific weaponry” and said that to win the war, “we cannot just do it with motivation and morale.”
Really, Mr. Zelensky? Our Abrams tanks? Are you sure that’s all you want? Perhaps you’d like a couple hundred of our F-35 Lightning fighters and a couple of stealth bombers just to be on the safe side.
The nerve of this guy is almost beyond description. More than $100 billion of American taxpayer money has disappeared into the coffers of President Sweat Suit with no accountability as to where the money and weapons actually wound up. I guess he must have burned through that $40 billion we sent him in November pretty quickly. And now he wants to throw a temper tantrum because we’re not sending him all of our best tanks?
Our army has a little more than 4,000 of those M1A1 Abrams tanks and General Dynamics isn’t even making any more of them at the moment. We use them all over the world. If we start shipping them all to Ukraine, the Russians are just going to start blowing them up with missiles as soon as they locate them. Just yesterday we discussed how the United States is already running low on critical military supplies because we’ve sent so much of our hardware to Zelensky. Also, both Germany and our government are concerned that seeing those tanks on the battlefield, particularly if they start rolling into Russian territory, will trigger Putin and restart his threats to attack allied targets.
The good news is that at least for now, it doesn’t sound like the White House is ready to roll out the red carpet and ship out our tanks. The latest bloated delivery to Ukraine contains plenty of military power and cash, but not the M1A1 Abrams. (Emphasis added)
The U.S. is finalizing a massive package of military aid for Ukraine that U.S. officials say is likely to total as much as $2.6 billion. It’s expected to include for the first time nearly 100 Stryker combat vehicles and at least 50 Bradley armored vehicles to allow Ukrainian forces to move more quickly and securely on the front lines in the war with Russia — but not the tanks that Ukraine has sought.
The bad news is that the Brits have just announced that they will be sending tanks to Ukraine. That may wind up giving Joe Biden the excuse to start delivering our best tanks to Zelensky, fearing that he might look like we’re “not doing enough” if the Brits are doing it. What we really need is for McCarthy and the new House GOP Majority to step in, put the brakes on this gravy train, and evaluate what the appropriate levels of aid that we can actually afford should be.
