With the next GOP debate just around the corner, Doug and I were very fortunate to have one of the moderators, Hugh Hewitt, join us for a session on Politinerds this week. We dive right into the big event right off the bat, with Hugh sharing some of his impressions of past debates and how they were handled compared to how he wants things to go this time. We give him the chance to dish on Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, along with a brief exploration of “gotcha questions” and what we can expect along those lines. Also, Hugh offers me the chance to craft a question to be used and provide him with some background on it, so of course I immediately dive into Second Amendment issues and gun confiscation.

The whole thing goes swimmingly until I try to convince him to ask the candidates about opening up Area 51 and freeing the extraterrestrials, at which point it pretty much heads downhill from there.
