So Much for Trump Honesty ... and Competence

Shooting from the lip hip is one of Donald Trump’s specialties. He isn’t especially consistent in telling the truth. This time, Mr. Trump “called for a Republican to challenge Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) Monday night, even though the filing deadline to enter the congressional contest passed last week.” This isn’t especially surprising, considering the fact that Trump’s loyalties are situational at best. First, calling Chip Roy a RINO is like calling Trump disciplined. Next, saying that Roy is “very beatable” is like saying that Walter Mondale had a legitimate shot at defeating Reagan in 1984.

[Bear in mind that Trump will carry all of these internecine grudges into a general election campaign, too. His campaign will not prioritize winning a broad spectrum of seats in the House and Senate, but instead will focus mainly on boosting those who praise him and denigrating every Republican that doesn’t. This does not bode well for Republicans even if Trump can manage to win again. — Ed]
