Trump pleads 'not guilty' to charges stemming from special counsel's Jan. 6 probe

U.S. Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhaya presided over Thursday’s proceedings. Judge Tanya Chutkan will preside over the trial. Chutkan, a former assistant public defender before her appointment to the bench by President Barack Obama, has handled several cases involving individuals who entered the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Upadhaya said Judge Chutkan intends to set a trial date of Aug. 28. After the prosecutor called for a “speedy trial,” Trump attorney John Lauro voice his opposition.
