CONWAY: “One is, do I like you? That’s a classic living room test. Number two is more important: Are you like me? What do we have in common? And then you’re able to say to people, ‘A-ha, you want to vote for Herschel Walker over Raphael Warnock because after all, Raphael Warnock has voted 98% of the time against the things that you just said are important to you. So you want to go with a guy who’s standing up and speaking up and putting up and showing up every day on the campaign trail, Herschel Walker or Republican X who’s out there responding to your concerns?’ The other thing. At the end of every speech I give to Republican audiences I say the following, let me share it with the audience tonight: ‘We have to have a 7-second version, a 70-second version and 70-minute version, depending on how long people will listen to us, why am I a Republican, how are the parties different, why does your vote matter?’ And then we need to bank these votes early. We’re taking a big chance somebody can get off of work, out of the house, out of traffic, not feeling sick that day. If you can bank the votes in October, let’s do it. I don’t like it because it’s pro-incumbent. I don’t like it because it’s election season, election trimester, but these are the rules. You either adapt or die as a party. And we can do this. We can absolutely do this. But I’ll tell you, I think — people saying we need a new message, let me just say something, respectfully, to the 49 Republican senators. Where were most of you? Why weren’t you in Georgia: A few of them were, but they all should have been, gentlemen, because they should’ve been there in some form, a tele town hall, in person, saying the following: ‘I serve in the United States with Raphael Warnock. He’s a terrible senator. He doesn’t represent Georgia. He’s not fit to serve. He votes with Joe Biden. He voted for the Inflation Reduction Act that doesn’t do that. He said nothing when they pulled out of Afghanistan. He said nothing that Joe Biden has been to Delaware 174 days and down to the border zero days.’ That’s what needs to happen. Where were the other senators to say, ‘I want Herschel Walker, not Raphael Warnock in the Senate with me?’”
HANNITY: “All right, one last question, quick answer from all of you. Ari, we’ll give it to you first: What is the one big recommendation you would give the Republican Party in general?”
FLEISCHER: “You cannot win with a base alone.”
[Let’s hope people listen to that last line. — Ed]
