Welcome to our VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now do a Week in Review show on Friday evenings, exclusive to members on both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007.

What stories topped your priority lists this week? We start with why I woke up angry – the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. Have we gone back to sleep? Duane and I debate this question; he cites the successes we have had fighting Islamist terrorists. I cite the Islamists we're electing to Congress. We report, you decide.

Next, we spend most of our time discussing the GOP Midterm Convention. Did the gamble pay off? Both Duane and I are more optimistic about the Republicans' chances of driving a different midterm narrative. We discuss some of the high points of the two days, most notably the brilliant speech delivered by J.D. Vance. Did he just win the 2028 presidential nomination? And did Rubio absent himself to allow Vance to have the moment to himself?

Finally, we end with a look at last weekend's 2026 Socialism summit in Chicago. It starts with "communist sex forests," and ends with the abolition of the nuclear family, private property, and America as we know it.

Be sure to watch it all, and extend the conversation in the comments!
