Welcome to our VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now are doing a Week in Review show for Friday evenings, exclusive to members in both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007. And don't miss Duane's new podcast series and platform, Duane's World!
What stories topped your priority lists this week? First off, the big news is that our producers are off today, so our episode looks a little different. It should work well, even if it's a little more on the raw side. We'll eventually produce it in the normal fashion, but for now, enjoy old-school TEMS production values!
The truly big story was and is the war with Iran. Duane brings the scorecard (as of this morning) of regime officials who are no longer respiratory, along with what may come next. Both of us expect a move on Kharg Island, although that may not be immediate. For now, we both hail the return of the Warthog and Apache, and explain why those older platforms still have a lot of value.
We also discuss news from the WSJ about a potential shift in immigration messaging – and maybe enforcement. It looks like Donald Trump and Susie Wiles want to find a way to reach an accommodation with Senate Dems on DHS funding, and why Trump's choice of interlocutor may help. We also briefly cover the Cesar Chavez scandal, and wonder why it's taken so long for it to emerge ... and why it's emerging all at once.
Be sure to watch it all, and extend the conversation in the comments!
