"Frighteningly awful." "Like your 87-year-old senile grandfather." "He never completed a sentence." "Painful."
Are those descriptions of Joe Biden's debate performance on June 27, 2024? No, indeed; those descriptions of Joe Biden came from his performance at a Chevy Chase, MD fundraiser exactly one year earlier to the day. Donors to his campaign offered Bob Woodward their recollections of Biden's obvious senility at the dinner, and Woodward has it in his new book, War.
Axios reporter Alex Thompson highlights the passages:
Woodward reports in his new book that Biden donors began expressing concern about Biden’s mental fitness in June of 2023.

Never mind that the cover-up of Biden's cognitive decline clearly stated well before June 2023. Fourteen months earlier, the White House had sent the Easter Bunny to block Biden from engaging reporters on the rope line for the annual Easter egg roll. The Wall Street Journal reported this summer that the cover-up may have gone back as far as October 2021. However, Woodward has Democrat donors going on the record that Biden had advanced into some level of senility a full year before having his incapacity exposed on national television -- and that it was bad enough so that it could not have been overlooked by those around him.
That definitely includes Kamala Harris, who claims to work closely with Biden and whom the White House claims to meet with him weekly. When pressed on Biden's cognitive decline by Bret Baier last week, Harris refused to answer the question, repeating that "Joe Biden is not on the ballot." When NBC's Hallie Jackson asked Harris about it last night, Harris insisted that Biden is still fully capable:
"Can you say that you were honest with the American people about what you saw in those moments with President Biden, as you were with him again and again repeatedly in that time?"
"Of course," Harris responded. "Joe Biden is an extremely accomplished, experienced and capable in every way that anyone would want if they're president."
Even Jackson found that a little hard to believe:
"You never saw anything like what happened at the debate night behind closed doors with him?" Jackson followed.
"It was a bad debate. People have bad debates," Harris replied.
"But that's the reason why you're here and he's not running for the top of the ticket," Jackson said.
"Well, you'd have to ask him if that's the only reason why," Harris responded.
There is only one explanation for this: Harris is lying. And she's lying to protect herself from the consequences of a massive cover-up about Biden's cognitive collapse. Harris knows why she's the anointed replacement for Joe Biden, and so does everyone else. Biden's decline was obvious from his personal appearances over the last three years, so much so that the White House and other Democrats practically trademarked the "sharp as a tack" description offered every time the subject came up.
Rather than deal honestly with Biden's incapacity, Harris and everyone around Biden covered it up -- not just to get Biden through this term, but to prop him up for a re-election campaign and four more years as an incapacitated figurehead. Democrats rigged their primaries to prevent real competition for the nomination and would have sold SHARP AS A TACK! T-shirts until November 5th in an attempt to drag a senile Biden across the finish line.
It might be one of the worst cover-ups in American political history, and Harris is still trying to keep it going.
