Genesis, "weebles," and Hunter's phone: Off the Beaten Path

“Weebles”? Those have been off the beaten path for many years, even among my grandchildren, so maybe it’s appropriate that Larry O’Connor and I make mention of them today. Oh, wait — that’s Uyghurs, and we discuss Hugh Hewitt’s interview with Francis Suarez earlier this morning. Larry and I also discuss the meaning of Genesis, or at least the fact that it has meaning — which apparently is news to a couple of Jesuit priests. We also touch on the controversy around a conservative bishop and why the faithful might want to let that play out a bit. We also take about great art in music … and then wonder whether that includes Taylor Swift. Based on how her fans enforce the Taylor law on line, well … maybe we should concede that point.

Welcome back to our VIP video series “Off the Beaten Path,” featuring my friend Larry O’Connor! The Townhall columnist and Salem News Channel host starts off our week by discussing stories and ideas that may fly under our radar, in culture, politics, sports, and more. Plus, Larry previews tonight’s SNC show!

Unfortunately, my transcription service didn’t work today, so I can’t provide quotes, but we go through a few other bullet points:

  • Did Hunter Biden’s company buy a phone for the Big Guy that’s “off the books”?
  • Is Netflix rereleasing Titanic at the wrong time?
  • The Titan submersible failure
  • Why don’t other interviewers do what Hugh does in sticking to real issues, rather than interpersonal fights?
  • SCOTUS’ decision on the “independent state legislature” argument on election law

There’s plenty more in the show, so be sure to watch it all and join the conversation in the comments!
