What stories topped your priority lists this week? For me, it certainly wasn’t Don Lemon getting fired, and not even Tucker Carlson’s cancellation at Fox News, although we discuss both stories. Duane Patterson and I agree that the most important story of the week is the media collusion exposed at Joe Biden’s press conference this week. “This is media collusion. This is corruption,” I declare. “This is a a propaganda exercise in which Courtney Subramanian and the LA Times participated … propping up Dear Leader.” And if you think that’s bad, just wait until Duane tries explaining “Squid Games” to me.

Welcome to our VIP feature for Hot Air as well as a members-only show in the Hughniverse! Duane Patterson and I now are doing a Week in Review show for Friday evenings, exclusive to members in both platforms. Duane has been the Generalissimo behind the Hugh Hewitt Show for more than two decades, and we have partnered on weekly commentary since 2007.
The LAT has denied that Subramanian colluded with the White House to set up the question for Biden, “but the question was still the same question. And Joe Biden was basically reading along,” Duane points out. “His answer was scripted…. It was a Hollywood setting,” he adds, “pretending to be a press conference.” And why was that necessary? Because Biden’s incapable of handling “improvisational settings,” as Axios reported this morning, thanks to his advanced age — and the White House knows it.
What else hit our radar screens this week?
- What does the exit of Susan Rice mean for Joe Biden? I think she’s just going to shift to his re-elect campaign, but Duane’s not so sure. “It did not strike me that she left on her own volition,” Duane says. “It looked to me like she was removed from her spot.”
- No one really knows why Fox cancelled Tucker Carlson’s show, but we’ve had plenty of leaks and speculation. Duane and I briefly address that, and then note that no one but Al Sharpton is mystified in the least about why CNN fired Don Lemon.
- “I just think it’s grand that they bounce him,” Duane says, “not even a week after Chris Licht was on stage doing a Q &A with Don Lemon in the audience, being asked to comment on Don Lemon’s problems at CNN.” Licht tried at the time to pass off the issue as “‘we just want the Don Lemon that can do this, this, this,'” Duane continues, “and this that Don Lemon couldn’t do in a million years.” Which everyone except Licht realized.
- Axios reported this morning that Biden can only handle six hours of work a day, and nothing before 10 am. “It’s the Dr. Pepper Presidency,” I declare. Duane and I both get a laugh at Jen Psaki’s notion that Biden is a “night owl” when he has to stop at 4 pm in the afternoon.
- What the heck is “Squid Games”? Duane tried to school me. It didn’t go well. And get off my damn lawn.
