Did the COVID-19 vaccines have real value, and did governments overplay it if they did? Adam Baldwin and I disagree a bit on the first question, but we agree on the second — and more. “I think the reason we all allowed the lockdowns to happen,” Adam says, “is we were scared to death that this was a biological weapon of some kind.” If this was a natural crossover virus, Adam argues, we’d never have allowed it — and never have allowed what followed from it. “Why would we be afraid to shut down economies?” he asks. “Well, it’s control, and we’ve seen this kind of control attempted — in China.”

Welcome back to my VIP video series “The Amiable Skeptics,” featuring my friend Adam Baldwin! Adam is well-known for his long and storied Hollywood career, starting with My Bodyguard, and especially for his roles in Full Metal Jacket, Firefly, its film sequel Serenity, Chuck, and The Last Ship.
Even in the case of a crossover, I argue, you can get a lot of excess deaths with a novel virus that spreads as quickly as COVID-19 did. A brief shutdown might make sense for the reasons it was sold in the first place. “There weren’t enough health care resources to deal with it,” I point out, and a 15-day lockdown to rush more resources into place while backstopping businesses and workers would potentially save a lot of lives. However, that “turned into months and months of stupid lockdowns,” which arguably cost lives, impoverished families, and stunted child development for no benefit at all.
“We’re going to build up these resources and then just reopen and get things going,” I said of the 15 Days to Stop the Spread Campaign in April 2020. “That’s what Trump wanted to do initially, and he was talked into doing another two weeks after that.” After that, it kept going “because you had a bunch of people who were entirely risk averse, and wouldn’t reopen anything until other people forced it. And it wasn’t necessary.”
Adam thinks that control was the point all along, however. The way that government and Big Tech collaborated to silence dissent on these policies reveals that purpose very clearly, he argues, and it will take a long time for the American public to recover from it — even as the lies and spin get exposed.
“The brainwashing is so nearly complete with those that wanted to believe it that felt safe,” Adam says. “That it’s going to take a while to get over it, although I think. With the release of this Pfizer executive admitting that it doesn’t prevent transmission like, would you have taken a shot of that?” (Jazz wrote at length about this yesterday, so be sure to read that.) “Well, it doesn’t prevent transmission. And it’s not that she admitted that it didn’t prevent transmission. Is that she said they never claimed that it would prevent transmission. No, they said they never tested for it.” And yet the Biden administration imposed multiple mandates for vaccines and masks on the basis of transmission prevention, when they knew it wouldn’t have that impact.
