Brad Lander is not welcome, even when he tries to support a cause that is dear to Muslims. They may think he's slightly more tolerable than other, less radical Jews, but in the end they think he is contemptible and don't want him in their coalition, even if he wants to help.
Brad Lander took out Dan Goldman in the New York congressional primary, and his pitch was pretty simple: he's more sympathetic to the Palestinian cause than Goldman was; both opposed sending weapons to Israel, both hate Netanyahu, but Lander was willing to call the Gaza War a genocide, and Goldman was not.
For embracing the antisemites' attacks on the Israeli government, embracing the "Palestinian" cause, and catering to the Islamists who want to see all Jews kicked out of Israel, Mamdani and the radical left rewarded him with their organizational support.
Lander trounced Goldman, defeating him by almost 30 points.
Lander apparently thought that his expressions of sympathy would buy him some grace from the Jew haters after having spent months feeding the alligators hungry for Jewish blood. And, in a way, he did: he will be the next Congressman from New York's District 10, at least until the DSA and Mamdani can find a Muslim to run against him.
In the eyes of the anti-Israel fanatics, he is still a Jew who will never be welcome in their midst. He passed the Gaza test, but not the Jewish one, so he is not welcome.

That's no exaggeration: Lander tried to protest an event featuring a Hindu nationalist, and it was made very clear that he was not welcome. Being on the side of the protesters was not enough; being one of them is the ultimate test.
Lefty congressional nominee Brad Lander got blasted by protesters outside Madison Square Garden Saturday, where an Indian Hindu-nationalist leader — who was recently condemned by Mayor Zohran Mamdani — was giving a speech.
Lander attempted to join in on the demonstration against Mohan Bhagwat — chief of the controversial Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh nationalist group — but instead was embarrassingly heckled with antisemitic hate by his fellow opponents and was forced to move for his safety, video of the incident showed.
It appeared the former Democratic comptroller assumed the protesters would have supported his opposition to the RSS, but one fired-up demonstrator was seen screaming in Lander’s face, yelling obscenities like “F–k you Zionist balls–k,” making it clear that his support was not welcome.
Lander argued against the protester, telling him to “Bring it on,” and was later yelled at by other members of the group to “Get the f–k” out as they didn’t want any “Zionists” supporting their cause.
The Jewish Lander, who is the Democratic nominee for NY’s 10th Congressional district, has been critical of Israel, but has described himself as a “liberal Zionist.”
Lander thought that standing by these Muslim protesters would buy him some political points, proving he has no idea who he is dealing with. He apparently thinks that Muslims just want to be heard and that outreach and solidarity would buy him some grace and even loyalty.
But, in the end, they see him as a Jew too, just one mildly more tolerable than Dan Goldman. He's just the next guy to be eaten by the still ravenous mob.
There's no doubt that Hindu nationalism is incompatible with the Muslim vision of what India should look like, both because it implies the exclusion of Muslim rule in India, and because it is at least partly driven by a sense that Muslims are driven by an ideology that demands world domination and not any form of coexistence.

Maybe the fact that he's being harassed anyway is a sign that next time, he should just stick to campaigning on his actual views.
I'm pretty sure that the Sikhs, who were also protesting, would have welcomed his support.
I'd say the attacks on Lander, who came there expressly to embrace the cause of Muslims and show his solidarity, prove that the Hindu nationalists have a pretty good point. The Muslim protesters don't just reject the Hindu vision of India, but reject even their allies when they aren't actually Muslim themselves.
Especially if they are Jews, of course, who are first on the menu. But only the first; Islam is not so much a religion as a totalitarian ideology that has a religious component. They may revere Mohammed and pray to Allah, but they see it as their religious duty to subjugate and convert all non-Muslims and impose Sharia law.
Mamdani, who wanted to cancel the speech by Mohan Bhagwat but had no legal authority to do so, spoke of his commitment to pluralism as the reason, but as you can see, pluralism is not what motivates the movement that helped put Mamdani into Gracie Mansion.
Pluralists would have welcomed support from an ally; totalitarians notice only the differences and want to stamp them out.
Will Lander learn his lesson? I doubt it. He's tied his future to Mamdani and the radical, and they are 100 percent allied with the Islamists. If Lander wants to be a Congressman for more than two years, he's got to toe the line, and I expect he will.
Will it save him in the long run? I doubt it. The alligator is still hungry.
