OK, I need to See This Documentary

I've been a fan of Matt Orfalea ever since I first came across him through Matt Taibbi's writing. 

I don't know Matt, have no relationship with him or Taibbi, but I have decided to support Orfalea's plea to support his work to finish his upcoming documentary "Killing Kenosha."

The riots in Kenosha in 2020 remain a cultural touchstone for many of us; they were a key part of the Summer of George Floyd, which, along with COVID restrictions and the insanity of that year, fundamentally reshaped American society in this decade and likely beyond. 

We suffered through the Biden administration thanks to the Summer of 2020, and the political rise of the Democratic Socialists of America is inextricably tied to that year's events. We all know who Kyle Rittenhouse is because of the riots in Kenosha, and corporate America poured a billion dollars into BLM and supercharged DEI in response to the public outcry. 

As with the story of George Floyd's death, the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha was the building block for a myth that changed America. Orfalea is trying to tell that story. 

Watch the trailer, and you will probably be as stunned as I at how blatant the differences are between The Narrative™ and reality.

It's startling to see the snippets of the interviews with Jacob Blake, who we have all been assured is a dead man killed by a policeman for no good reason on a hot night in Kenosha. 

Jacob Blake is Schrödinger's black man, both alive and dead, depending on the viewer. If you look at him, he is alive; if you watch the news, he is a dead martyr and the excuse for burning down cities and killing white people. 

This is a story that must be told, not because we need to know the specific facts of this particular case, but because of what it says about the fundamental corruption of the Pravda Media, which is totally uninterested in telling the truth. 

The story of Jacob Blake's "death" mirrors that of Matthew Shepard's canonization as a man killed in a gay-bashing incident in Laramie, Wyoming. Shepard is portrayed as a Christ-like figure, victimized by a homophobic society. A foundation is named after him. A monument to his life. The anniversary of his death is celebrated as a reminder that we all need to be kind and compassionate, and that diversity is our strength.

Only, Shepard was killed by a gay lover of his after a dispute over the methamphetamine he was selling. And it wasn't a right-wing activist who tracked down the story, but a gay man who wrote about the false canonization of Shepard in The Advocate. And Kudos to him for being dedicated to telling the truth, while Pravda wants to convince us of falsehoods convenient to their Narrative™.

Go to YouTube and you will find many videos about the fake hate crime that caused Shepard's death, but you will also find this:

Shepard was killed by a fellow meth dealer who wanted his stash, not a group of cowboy gay bashers, but that is an inconvenient truth, just as the fact that Jacob Blake is still alive, and that after multiple investigations it was firmly established that Blake was armed, and that he did not, in fact, die. 

These stories need to be told not just because they are true, but more importantly because they reveal the fundamental corruption of Pravda Media, on whom most people depend to give them the truths on which we build our society. 

Societies are built on shared cultural understandings and a shared set of facts, and when those facts are so grossly distorted as to warp reality, societies can tear themselves apart. 

So I am throwing in a few bucks to help Orfalea finish his documentary because I want to see it, and more importantly because I want as many people as possible to see it too.
