I know a lot of "pro-choice" people in both political parties.
If you ask them, they will hand-wave about "safe, legal, and rare," talk about "life of the mother," and other issues that affect fewer than 1 percent of abortions, and insist that no woman or doctor would abort a baby in the third trimester.
It's self-deception. I had a heated discussion with a friend about late-term abortions, and he made all the right noises in this direction, so I had him read this piece in, of all places, The Atlantic, about late-term abortions, most of which fit none of those categories.
He was so disgusted he couldn't finish the article, and he also didn't change his mind, because abortion is a sacrament among liberals. If it is too disgusting to look at, don't look.
Why stop at birth? The only thing birth changes is the child's physical location. https://t.co/Bs2uijYFOO

The truth is that as with all such things, including DEI, gender ideology, alphabet "rights," and any similar issue, the slope is not just slippery; it is an ice wall. It takes mere moments to go from "MAiD is for people mere days from a painful death" to killing people for breaking their ankles or having a bad day.
Abortion until birth crossed that line for liberals quite a while ago, but there are still Blue states that have yet to pass abortion until birth (or after birth in some states, where babies will be moved into a closet to die). They are getting fewer, though, and Democrats run ads in just about every election pushing unrestricted abortion.
A woman who has never given birth surrounded by childless women who have never given birth signing a bill to murder babies up to the final day of pregnancy right before delivery.

Can you think of a more evil group of women? pic.twitter.com/Kq5Ot4sY7H
And women — not all women, for sure — eat it up.
Women "shout their abortions," bake cakes and celebrate killing their babies, and mock the idea that killing a baby is anything but good. They do interpretive dances, promise to kill babies out of spite, and casually talk about their five or six abortions that were so morally inconsequential that they cannot remember the exact number.

For these people, the difference between a baby being in the womb and a clump of cells being in the womb is a matter of mind, not physical reality. If they want to be pregnant, a child is a precious thing and a human being; if they decide it is too much trouble to raise a child, it is a clump of cells that will ruin their lives.

The Shout Your Abortion IG post celebrates this book as a way to “normalize” abortion for children in kindergarten through 2nd grade.
But why even introduce such a violent, adult topic to kids who still sleep with stuffed animals and ask for night lights?
Because reshaping morality always starts with shaping the minds of the youngest.
When I watched that bill signing, what stood out was how thrilled everybody in the room was that children who could be born and survive out of the womb — many without any special medical care because they are that far along — could now be killed legally.
I have no doubt that most of those women are, when you interact with them, perfectly nice people who can explain to you with moral certainty that they are deeply compassionate and wouldn't hurt a fly. It's just that they are so morally twisted by the culture of death that they believe that lives can be measured in terms of what they believe at any given moment.
"I want the baby" means that it is precious; "I don't want the baby" means it is disposable. It is solipsism taken to its ultimate extreme.
It is sociopathic, in fact, and only justifiable because they choose to believe what chosen "experts" tell them. They export their moral sense to others who genuinely ARE sociopaths. They are the people who join the Nazi party because everybody around them does, or who chase people down in grocery stores because they are not wearing masks.
If you ever wonder how mobs develop or how cultural manias like the Cultural Revolution happen, look to these women. They are perfectly normal in almost every respect, but they are inclined to outsource their thinking to the crowd.
There are many more such people than one would suppose, and they tend to accumulate on the left, although not exclusively so. I know plenty of conservatives who are cult-like in their adherence to causes or ideology.
Conservatives, though, are more inclined to be individualists and skeptics, which is why few of them became COVID cultists, and why stamping out individual thought was so vital to the COVIDiots. It served their leftist ideology, of course, but it also presented a danger to their worldview.
They crave the comfort of the crowd, and if that means embracing murder, embracing murder is what they will do.
