A New Wave of Domestic Terrorism Coming?

It's no longer in the public consciousness, but domestic terrorism was very much a thing in the United States and Europe during the 1960s and 1970s.

There is no one hard count, but in those two decades, about 20,000 bombings happened in the United States, with actual revolutionary groups trying to overthrow the United States government.

They failed, of course. But domestic terrorism was very much a thing, and a significant fraction of our cultural elite were at least somewhat supportive. That's one of the reasons the working class started moving rightward, alongside crime, cultural, and economic issues.

The radicalization of the left in recent years has already inspired riots and assassinations (sound familiar?), and it is quite possible that a new wave, hopefully not as widespread, of domestic terror will be unleashed.

Radical groups are gearing up for it already, feeling that the wind is at their back, unifying around racial issues and the Palestinian "cause."

For several years, websites like "Beautiful Trouble" have been hinting at sabotage and property destruction, and activists openly discuss in seminars the need for radical violence.

EXCLUSIVE: Teachers' Union leaders plot violent resistance.

During a recent webinar, leaders from the major teachers' unions in Minneapolis, Chicago, and Los Angeles suggested pivoting from "postcards and rallies" to more VIOLENT tactics used in other countries to "defeat authoritarians," citing the George Floyd riots in 2020 as a successful example of resistance. It's not at all uncommon for professors to ally with radicals and openly recruit students into revolutionary movements, and open socialists and communists are pounding the table, calling for violent revolution. Democrats are rallying around Hasan Piker and Graham Platner, who both have called for violence and who have been open about being revolutionary communists (although Platner is now disputing that he remains one).

Luigi Mangione is a hero.

Hamas and Hezbollah are heroes on the progressive left because they are fighting to "decolonize."

It's even become common for target lists to float around, with suggestions to vandalize them or worse.

"Think Big."

Liberals dismiss this as all talk, or even perhaps justified. But we are confronted all the time by the fact that a very large fraction of the left is hankering for violence, and applauds it when it pops up.

Sure, a lot of leftists don't want to put their own necks on the line, but they sure talk the talk. They echo the claims that our culture is systemically racist and oppressive, and the obvious conclusion is that it must be replaced.

Is it any wonder that the more radically inclined see violence as the answer? Of course not, especially when they get applauded after each violent act.

I can't predict if or when the spasm of terrorism will arrive, but I fear it will.
