Over the past few weeks, liberals have discovered a strange new respect for the Pope, just as they discovered that Marjorie Taylor Greene is a genius, that Bill Kristol is really a smart guy, and that Tim Miller is the kindest, bravest, warmest, and most generous guy in the world.
All it takes is saying something awful about Trump, and you are in the club.
But the fact is that the Democratic Party and the left have been at war with Catholics for a number of reasons, mostly having to do with gender ideology and especially abortion.
The FBI famously worked with the Southern Poverty Law Center to label conservative Catholics "domestic extremists," and federal prosecutors imposed outrageously long and disproportionate sentences (twice what they imposed on liberals violating the same laws), and prosecuted cases that they knew were losers just to impose a "process" punishment on pro-lifers.
Stanley Meador, then the SAC of the Richmond Field Office, wrote to an FBI agent who produced the memo on "radical traditional Catholics," "Keep that head up, this too shall pass. Will make for a great chapter in your memoirs some day!"

The FBI and Biden administration insisted there was no bias. It's just that nobody is above the law, and how could anybody think that Joe Biden, a performative Catholic, could be anything but utterly fair?

WASHINGTON — Justice Department prosecutors in the Biden administration discussed their desire to target Catholic nuns, text messages shared with The Daily Wire show.
Communications obtained by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) show Joseph Cooney and Molly Gaston texting one another in February 2021 as they scoured media coverage of January 6. The texts specifically reference a New York Times photo of religious sisters who attended the “Stop the Steal” rally, wearing traditional habits and veils, as well as big Trump scarves around their necks.
“I would like to take a special assignment of finding and prosecuting them,” Gaston wrote to Cooney.
“I’m with you,” responded Cooney. “Although I’d like to prosecute any nun who still wears the head habit.”
“Hahaha,” his fellow DOJ prosecutor responded.
The Justice Department provided the communications to Grassley as part of his investigation into Arctic Frost, an FBI investigation into Republicans and conservatives. Both Cooney and Gaston went on to serve as top deputies to Special Counsel Jack Smith throughout his Arctic Frost investigation. They now head “Gaston & Cooney PLLC,” and Cooney is running for Congress in Virginia.
Gender ideology is a cult, and abortion is a religious sacrament for liberals. And since conservative Catholics believe in traditional marriage, that sex is real, and that killing babies is wrong, they were targeted for persecution because they are heretics in the new lefty religion that dominates the Democratic Party.

Christopher Wray, the slick and sleazy FBI Director who helped radicalize the FBI against Catholics, assures us that he was appalled when he discovered that his own agency was labeling Catholics as potential terrorists, and I am just as certain that CIA Director William Burns was appalled when he discovered that the CIA listed "motherhood" as a sign of white supremacy under Joe Biden.

You may recall the case of Mark Houck, who defended his son against a deranged pro-abortion activist who was screaming at and threatening his son. The FBI raided his house with a SWAT team, arrested him, tried to put him in jail for a decade, and a jury looked at the evidence and basically laughed at how outrageously he was treated.

He sued the Justice Department and won a huge settlement, which is great, but he also had guns pointed in his face in front of his family. The process is the punishment. Being labeled a domestic extremist is the punishment. And, with the right jury, jail can be the punishment. For disagreeing with the left.

By no means were Catholics the only target of the weaponization of law enforcement under the Biden regime. Pretty much anybody they didn't like was, starting at the top, and it all started in the Obama administration. During his reign, the IRS was weaponized to go after conservative organizations, and of course, Obama and company conspired to create the entirely bogus "Crossfire Hurricane" investigation.

"Nobody is above the law," "equity," "tax fairness," or whatever floats their boat. But the fact is that they believe in one thing above all others: seizing and abusing power and money to help their friends and harm their enemies.
Will anybody pay a price for abusing that power? Of course not. Chances are good that former FBI Agent Joseph Cooney, who openly fantasized about arresting nuns for wearing habits, will soon be a Congressman.
