The first indictment, I hope of many, of the COVID liars has finally arrived.
Anthony Fauci adviser indicted by Department of Justice
— Sean Spicer (@seanspicer) April 28, 2026
David Morens, 78, has been charged with conspiracy against the United States; destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations; concealment, removal, or mutilation of records; and aiding and…
The indictment and prosecution will be a slam dunk because Morens, ironically, documented his conspiracy in emails, to...prevent the documentation of COVID-related materials that would make Anthony Fauci look bad. He even documented his consultation with the "FOIA lady" at his agency on how to avoid public disclosure of government information that, by law, is available to the public.
Morens, who served as a senior advisor to Fauci from 2006 to 2022, conducted official government business from a private email account and asked the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) FOIA liaison for tips on how to evade records requests, according to communications first exposed by The Post in May 2024.
“[T]here is no worry about FOIAs. I can either send stuff to Tony on his private gmail [sic], or hand it to him at work or at his house,” Morens wrote in one April 21, 2021, email. “He is too smart to let colleagues send him stuff that could cause trouble.”
Two months prior, Morens said in a Feb. 24 email: “[I] learned from our foia [sic] lady here how to make emails disappear after I am foia’d [sic] but before the search starts.”
“Plus I deleted most of those earlier emails after sending them to gmail [sic],” he noted.
Pretty hard to deny what is right there in black and white, in his own words.

It's hard to know what an actual jury will say, given how political justice is in the Washington, D.C. area. One has to wonder how many potential jurors are similarly guilty of the same crime, given the number of bureaucrats. But the case really is a slam dunk.

What is most notable, though, is something only hinted at in the indictment, which included "aiding and abetting." That implies, and basically says, that it was a conspiracy and that more indictments are on the way, as they should be.
"Please feel free to share any docs that I've sent to you with Tony. Hopefully you can do that in a way that avoids FOIA, and if not possible, just show him stuff on screen" pic.twitter.com/27Vexaxz4f

There were multiple conspiracies and a wide range of conspirators involved in the making of COVID policies, although I am not a lawyer, so I don't know how legally slam-dunk the cases would be. The conspiracy to get the "Proximal Origins" paper published, which pushed a false narrative about the origins of COVID, is just one of many. The conspiracy to create the COVID-19 virus that accidentally leaked is another, given that Fauci funneled money to the EcoHealth Alliance, arguably violating national policy on gain-of-function research.
The steady stream of lies was the result of a conspiracy, but were they ILLEGAL? Or provably so, at least? I have no idea.
They do this because they know they’ll never face real consequences. https://t.co/QBsxXTjca4 pic.twitter.com/zg9V4ln7JJ

What I do know is that the indictment shows that the Justice Department is following a tried-and-true strategy of working your way up from the bottom to the top. David Morens was a key member of the conspiracies, but not the top guy. Surely, they will pressure him to flip and spill the beans, especially since Anthony Fauci threw him under the bus when the FOIA evasion email came out.
Senior adviser to Anthony Fauci has just been indicted!! He may spill the beans on Fauci. pic.twitter.com/UB4B1rcppX

Him? I barely know him. This guy, who worked for me as an advisor for two decades, is a stranger to me.
Oh, Anthony, that may have been a mistake.
We uncovered new evidence suggesting Anthony Fauci tried to evade FOIA requests and even instructed NIH staffers to delete emails after reading them.

It’s time he comes in and testifies before Congress again.https://t.co/CAdt0NkmIx
Fauci got an autopen pardon from Biden, but his pension may still be on the line, and it is the largest pension in federal government history for a man who was the highest-paid man in the federal government.
And, of course, there are plenty of other people potentially on the hook.
There is a "related case" listed on the docket. It's under seal so we don't know who it is, but it does look like there are others who either have been or are going to be charged here. https://t.co/hoKRQnL5Ys pic.twitter.com/MzyTHnRWzj

Fauci himself is an accomplished liar, but I suspect that Morens is not, because, despite decades in Washington, he was never part of the political game. And, at 78, he is unlikely to be sanguine about spending his last days in jail.
He will spill the beans.
UPDATE: More names coming out
