The Left Is Going Insane About the Coming Downfall of Cuba

The Cuban government is on its last legs, begging for help from the Trump administration, if you can believe that.

Guess who is hardest hit by the coming collapse?

Greta Thunberg and the internationalist left, that's who. These eco- and social-justice warriors are demanding oil for Cuba!

The global left is losing all its favorite regimes, and it is driving them absolutely crazy. Suddenly, they are all about increasing oil consumption, demanding American capitalists save a communist country from collapse, so that the communists can use it as a base to destroy...evil capitalism.

I guess we are supposed to sell the communists the rope by which they hang us. Damn, Marx was wrong about that, too.

John wrote yesterday about the Democratic Socialists of America's planned rescue mission for the Cuban regime, and the idea is about as funny as you can imagine. A bunch of socialists are crowdsourcing an aid convoy to a country that cannot even keep its lights on.

It's not like Cuba is Gaza, which was a war zone. Cuba, if it were a normal country, could feed itself and keep the lights on. But without charity from other countries, it is crumbling even more than it was when the Soviets and the Venezuelans propped them up.

You can see why the left is so angry about Trump. Their entire infrastructure is crumbling as quickly as the Cuban power grid.

The most hilarious thing would be the utter collapse of the Cuban communist regime before the flotilla arrives. Cubans are burning down Communist Party headquarters, and the police are without fuel to zip around fast enough to kill all the protesters.

But regimes don't fall on a schedule, and we can't count on the funniest outcome every time. But it would be delicious as a chocolate moose after a beautifully cooked Prime Rib meal.

Can you imagine the rage that these leftists are feeling? It must be as incandescent as that experienced by a pedo trans-influencer being denied access to a woman's locker room while being misgendered.

It's ma'am!

To me, the greatest irony in the world is that the excuse the socialists come up with for  Cuba's poverty is that they don't have access to the capitalist United States' market.

Think about that: communism would work if only the capitalists would give communist countries what they need!

Uh....wut? Really? Is communism such a good system that it requires capitalists to cooperate with it?

If only Cuba had more gas! This is the left's new cry. Why aren't they thriving off of cheap, renewable energy as any communist paradise should?

he NYT cannot help but romanticize commie regimes - especially Cuba's

It uses the emotionally loaded term "abandonment" to lament the supposed betrayal, like a family turning its back on a troubled relative or a beleaguered symbol of resistance cruelly forsaken.

The whole thing is dripping with the kind of sanctimonious leftist framing that treats the brutal, one-party dictatorship as an "ideological lodestar," conjuring images of "longhaired guerrillas" and "revolutionary nostalgia."

Like clockwork, it dutifully recites the Castro regime's "triumphs" such as eradicating illiteracy and universal healthcare, heralding it as a "unyielding bastion of resistance" against US policies while overlooking the abject human cost.

Genuinely, what the hell is the point of literacy and healthcare when people are starving?

Generations have been living in poverty, crushed under surveillance and censorship, dissidents beaten and disappeared. Blackouts are routine and basic goods are fantasies. A young Cuban's prospects are either to beg tourists for soap or join insurgencies to prop up narco-tyrannies elsewhere in Latin America or flee as a refugee.

Cuba is nothing more than yet another failed socialist experiment. Will Western lefties finally square their cognitive dissonance with reality?

Not going to hold my breath. ¡Cuba libre!

Cuba is a favorite of the left because it is defined by the same hatred as the left for the West. Cuba=Venezuela=Gaza=Communist China=Iran. It is all the same struggle, against capitalism.

This is what I voted for. Four years is not enough to completely dismantle the global left and the internationalist world order, but it sure is a good start that Trump is making. By the end of 2026, we may see Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran freed.

Unfortunately, it will take longer to free the rest of us.

Editor's note: If we thought our job in pushing back against the Academia/media/Democrat censorship complex was over with the election, think again. This is going to be a long fight.
