Maybe It Is a Good Idea to Quit Importing Terrorists?

Just sayin'. Maybe importing people from a country where 88% of the population supports Sharia law and that is filled with people who are antisemitic and have an affinity for terrorists should be reconsidered.

The two terrorists who went on the antisemitic shooting rampage in Australia, which, by the way, has some of the strictest gun laws in the world, were immigrants from Pakistan and Lebanon.

Naveed Akram came via a scholarship from an Islamic institute that specializes in teaching the Koran and Islamic values in Sydney, and is working to create a cohort of Arabic-speaking Koran scholars to spread the word.

I don't know exactly what was in the curriculum, and unsurprisingly, the Al-Murad Institute has purged its social media presence, making it a bit difficult to learn too much about it. Still, based on what little evidence we have, it was not all about peace, love, and living in accord with Jews.

Apparently, Israel had warned Australian authorities about threats originating in Iran against potential targets in the country; we will have to find out in the coming weeks and months whether this particular attack was related to those warnings, and how seriously the Australian government took them

Israeli authorities said they were examining responsibility for the attack amid concerns it may have been orchestrated by a foreign state or militant organisations. The shooting occurred against a backdrop of escalating tensions between Australia and Iran, following a series of suspected Iranian-directed attacks on Jewish targets in the country.

Australian officials have not publicly confirmed any foreign involvement. However, Israeli officials cited Iran as a primary suspect if a state actor were involved, while also examining possible links to groups including Hezbollah, Hamas and Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, according to Israeli media reports.

A senior Israeli security official told Israel Hayom that there had been “increased activity by Iran in recent months to orchestrate attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets around the world,” adding that investigators believed the “direction and infrastructure” of the Bondi Beach attack originated in Tehran.

An Israeli intelligence source cited by the newspaper said activity by Iran and its allies had “markedly increased” in recent months. Another Israeli official said Australia had been among the countries affected, noting that the Australian government had previously taken action against the Iranian embassy following specific intelligence warnings.

“There is no doubt that the direction and infrastructure for the attack originated in Tehran,” the official said.

Australia has prided itself on having some of the strictest gun laws in the  world, having confiscated weapons not used specifically for hunting or protecting livestock back in the 90s.

Apparently that didn't prevent two terrorists who were foreigners from obtaining guns, as one would expect. It turns out that bad actors don't obey laws, and making something illegal does little to deter people who want to acquire something badly enough. Ask the homeless people who shoot up fentanyl daily on our streets.

It's no secret that Muslims from Pakistan and Afghanistan in particular are much more likely to be violent criminals, sexual predators, and inclined to terrorism that others. These are not statements of prejudice, but facts that can be examined in black and white. For years, people in Western societies have been browbeaten into pretending otherwise.

It would be grossly unfair to assume that anybody who is Muslim is a threat to our safety; but it is grossly negligent to pretend that Muslims, especially from certain countries, aren't much more likely to be troublesome.

Public policy should be driven by an unflinching look at reality, not woo-woo fairy tales about all cultures being equal or that "diversity is our strength."
