Is there an epidemic of senility emerging among government officials?

I am deeply concerned about the air quality in the buildings that house our government officials.

It’s clear that something in the air is causing severe memory loss in the top officials at these institutions. And I worry that the epidemic will spread to other institutions, such as the FBI, CIA, White House, and the Executive Office Building.

Since the Republicans took over Congress and began their oversight hearings into the government response to COVID and censorship on social media censorship public officials have started to develop memory problems. Surely those cannot be related to any attempt to stonewall the investigations and hide the immoral and illegal suppression of scientific discussions about the wrongheaded and deceptive policies they put in place to, in effect, undermine American society.

As information emerges about how the intelligence community, the public health authorities, and the political appointees in the Executive Branch coordinated with private companies to suppress vital information, dissenting opinions, and scientific debate about the government’s response to COVID, memories are beginning to fade.

At issue in the clip above is the National Institutes of Health working to “take down” the arguments of The Great Barrington Declaration, which argued that the policy approach pursued by the federal government to deal with the COVID pandemic.

The Great Barrington Declaration – As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection.

Coming from both the left and right, and around the world, we have devoted our careers to protecting people. Current lockdown policies are producing devastating effects on short and long-term public health. The results (to name a few) include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health – leading to greater excess mortality in years to come, with the working class and younger members of society carrying the heaviest burden. Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice.

Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.

The Declaration presented a significant challenge, or should I say a threat, to the policies being imposed upon the American people.

Why? Lots of people were arguing that the government approach was a disaster in progress, as it proved to be.

What distinguished this particular challenge was that it came from scientists of great prominence–more significant prominence than that of mostly unknown public health officials whose justification for having such great authority was that they were “The Science™.” Hence they were in a better position to determine appropriate policy than their critics.

Having Nobel Prizewinners, the best epidemiologists in the world, and prominent economists who understood the implications of these policies challenge the wisdom of the government bureaucrats was an unacceptable threat. A threat they colluded to destroy.

The principal authors of the Declaration were:

  • Dr. Martin Kulldorff, professor of medicine at Harvard University, a biostatistician, and epidemiologist with expertise in detecting and monitoring infectious disease outbreaks and vaccine safety evaluations.
  • Dr. Sunetra Gupta, a professor at Oxford University, an epidemiologist with expertise in immunology, vaccine development, and mathematical modeling of infectious diseases.
  • Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, a professor at Stanford University Medical School, a physician, epidemiologist, health economist, and public health policy expert focusing on infectious diseases and vulnerable populations.

They recruited thousands of fellow scientists and medical professionals to follow their lead, challenging the authority of the bureaucrats to fundamentally reshape American society.

Currently, there are 63,000 signatories of the Declaration who are medical scientists and practitioners of medicine. They include Nobel Prize winners, professors at the most prestigious medical institutions in the country, and doctors.

They, too, are the Science™.

This could not stand, and the public health establishment went into high gear to discredit them.

Having come to light, this effort is more than a little embarrassing and given that some of these efforts likely violated the Constitutional rights of these dissenters, legally concerning to the government officials.

That’s how we have discovered this apparent epidemic of senility that plagues government officials. When brought before Congressional committees exercising their oversight duties to investigate how and why policies were pursued, memories have dimmed.

“I don’t recall” will become a mantra that we will hear a lot in the coming two years.

I worry that none of these officials are any longer competent to do their jobs, and if their memories continue to be so impaired they must be removed from their positions of authority. Thank God Congress is asking these probing questions; otherwise, the senility these bureaucrats are displaying might never have been discovered.

The current standard for mental competence in government has sunk to appalling levels. Our president has lost control of his mind and perhaps his bowels; a sitting US Senator is clearly too mentally challenged to continue to make policy, and now a significant portion of our Intelligence and medical bureaucrats are losing their memories.
