"The View" is no laughing matter.
Sure, the ABC talk-fest has not one but two professional comedians on the panel — Oscar-winner Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. The duo is rarely funny, though, proving that funny bones have an expiration date.
What the hosts spread on a daily basis isn't funny, either. It's alternately shocking, silly and not to be believed. The panel pushes conspiracy theories as if Alex Jones stood back stage, feeding crazed thoughts into their ear pieces.
Then again, even Jones has his limits.
Need an example? Goldberg said President Donald Trump plans to separate interracial marriages. The proof? What proof? The craziest part? The president selected J.D. Vance to be his running mate, and his wife is of Indian descent.
Awkward!
Need a second example? Behar recently hinted that President Trump may be into bestiality.
The funny part to all this lunacy? ABC insists "The View" is a news program. If Stephen Colbert uncorked cracks like that, he might still be slinging jokes on "The Late Show" instead of visiting other late-night hosts.
Which brings us to "The View's" latest crusade against common sense. The program, like 99 percent of other "news" shows, ignored and/or downplayed President Joe Biden's obvious cognitive decline during the leader's single term. Said decline sunk his debate performance against President Trump in 2024, and it forced him off the presidential ticket weeks later.
To be fair, George Clooney gave him one hard nudge toward the exits. When Batman talks, people listen.
The media's malfeasance here is a national scandal, one they have no interest in pursuing. Can you blame them? The best path forward? Ignore it and move on. Ix-nay on the candal-say.
Not "The View."
The hosts this week compared how the media treated Biden's mental state with the current press take on President Trump. The answer? Reporters were much tougher on Biden than Trump when it comes to cognitive issues.
Really. Maybe Goldberg and Behar are getting ready to return to the stand-up stage after all.
They broached the subject while discussing Sen. Mitch McConnell's return to Senate duty. The Senator has been in poor health for some time now, and we've seen very little of him of late.
That's a real issue the media should explore.
And explore "The View" did — by pretending President Trump is slipping mentally and ignoring how their peers hid Biden's decline for four excruciating years.
JOY BEHAR: But the media does not cover Trump the way they covered Joe Biden.
ANA NAVARRO: Oh, no. Absolutely.
Co-host Sara Haines, who isn't conspiracy-addled like her peers, noted that President Trump has always had a folksy, meandering way with conversations. It's who he is, not a sign of decline a la Biden.
To which Navarro firmly replied with a series of "no's."
All the news that's fit to print? Not on "The View." It's more like "all the news that's too unhinged for Hasan Piker's next Twitch stream.
