Jake Tapper's Lack of Shame Needs to Be Studied

CNN's Jake Tapper once scolded Lara Trump for suggesting President Joe Biden may be suffering from an undiagnosed cognitive issue.

That didn't stop Tapper from insinuating the same about Donald Trump less than two weeks later. His source? One of medicine's most respected minds, Mary Trump.

That Lara Trump interview came back to haunt Tapper when President Biden mentally short-circuited during the first presidential debate of 2024. Later, of course, President Biden decided against seeking a second term.

And we all know why, except anyone who thought Tapper delivered the news without an agenda.

(Tapper later apologized to Lara Trump)

Tapper went on to co-author "Original Sin," an exhaustive look at President Biden's cognitive decline. That book came out after the 2024 presidential election, meaning it didn't hurt the Democrats in any real capacity.

What timing!

Now, even a cartoonishly biased journalist like Tapper must have learned a lesson or two from his own mistakes on the subject. Tread carefully with accusations of cognitive decline. Speak to the experts, not celebrities or wacky pundits when it comes to such critical matters.

Sadly, we're living in what Jimmy Failla has accurately dubbed "The Death of Shame." That means Tapper allowed a guest with no medical expertise and a history of saying the most deranged comments to weigh in on President Trump's mental state.

So Tapper sat back and let TDS Patient Zero Rosie O'Donnell let loose on Trump without pushing back or even a rudimentary fact check. Because, well, it's CNN and we're living in "The Death of Shame."

First, O'Donnell predicted President Trump wouldn't fill out his second term in office due to his declining heath.

All the medical doctors that you can get accurate, opinions of what’s happening to him because his demise is visible and, apparent to everyone who is not willfully blind. I mean, he called Zelensky Putin. He, makes the kind of mistakes that you would forgive at Thanksgiving dinner, but you would never let grandpa cut the turkey because it might be dangerous. He doesn’t know what he’s saying.

Any correction or comment from Tapper? Nope. He did mention another time the president made a brief verbal miscue. Cue the 25th Amendment!

And O'Donnell wasn't finished.

There are so many [examples of Trump's dementia]. It’s obvious, understanding his dementia and how it’s taking over. And I know there are millions of Americans who have lived through parents and loved ones going through exactly what he’s going through.

Yes, O'Donnell appears very concerned about the president's health and happiness. Very convincing.

Again, this is on CNN, formerly a trusted name in news. The segment's host whiffed on the biggest story of the last decade yet saw fit to circle back to it for naked profit. Now, he's letting a celebrity who fled the country because she disagreed with the chosen president to share wild conspiracies without anything resembling facts or reason.

This wasn't former CNN anchor Jim Acosta attempting to build his online profile with an O'Donnell interview. This was ... CNN.

Bari Weiss' possible CNN takeover can't come soon enough.
