Today's episode starts off on the beaten path, as Ed and Christian vent over the George Floyd obsession in Minnesota yesterday, overshadowing Memorial Day. What exactly did Jacob Frey and Tim Walz intend to commemorate – riots? We quickly move on to All of Me, a good example of a fine film that has mainly disappeared from people's playlists. We discuss the perhaps-surprising performance of The Mandalorian and Grogu, and the even more surprising performance of the low-budget indie horror film Obsession. Is horror the key to restoring the cinema's central place in American entertainment?
We then shift our focus to Regime Comedy, first with Chelsea Handler acting as the Roast Police. Why perform at a roast, especially one hosted by Kevin Hart, if you can't handle the comedy? That brings us to Stephen Colbert's departure from CBS, which his guests made all about Orange Man Bad but in truth was about the consequences of curating an audience down to Antifa. Byron Allen's pitch makes that clear enough.
