Welcome back to our VIP video series "Off the Beaten Path," featuring my friend Christian Toto of Hollywood in Toto! Christian and I start off our week by discussing stories and ideas that may fly under our radar, in culture, politics, sports, and more. Plus, Christian previews his latest podcast at HiT.

In today's episode, we reveal why Ed never got a degree – he never does his homework! Christian did finish his assignment from last week and posted his top 25 favorite movies. (Ed offered up his usual slate of excuses, but promises to hand in his paper late for partial credit.) The two have a lot of fun reviewing Christian's top ten, but also discussing what makes a great movie, and why it's nearly impossible to find a consensus. We both agree, though, that the Telegraph's list is mainly indefensible. Stepbrothers? Really?

Next week, we'll review Ed's choices ... assuming he finishes the assignment, and cleans the chalkboard after school.

We also take a gander at The View, where the hosts accused Marco Rubio of being a "race traitor" for being conservative and supporting Donald Trump's policies. Does that demagoguery cost society and carry a moral weight? We also check in with the box-office receipts this year, and it looks like the magic may have returned to the cinema. All it took was some worthy content. Who knew? Not Andy Serkis. And while the new trailer for The Odyssey looks grim, we're both inclined to give Christopher Nolan the benefit of the doubt. For now, anyway.

Watch it all and join us in the comments!
