Trump: Somali Community Has 'Destroyed Minnesota' Under Walz and Frey

President Trump delivered an extensive critique of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, the city’s police leadership, the Somali community in Minnesota, and Rep. Ilhan Omar. Trump began by referencing Frey’s public celebration of Minneapolis having “the largest Muslim community in the country,” adding that the police chief is “a fool.” Trump then sharply escalated his criticism, asserting that Minnesota may have “the largest Somalian” population and describing Somalia as “a people walking around killing each other.” He claimed Somali immigrants “have taken billions of dollars out of our country” and repeated allegations involving Rep. Ilhan Omar, saying she is “a fraud” who “married her brother” and “should be thrown the hell out of our country.” “They have destroyed Minnesota,” Trump said, calling the state’s governor “incompetent” and “crooked as hell,” and describing Minnesota as “a hellhole right now.” Trump tied the issue to federal policy, arguing that “a lot of it starts with Barack Hussein Obama,” whom he blamed for refugee admissions. He said immigrants should “love our country, cherish our country,” adding that critics like Omar “complain, complain, complain” despite benefiting from America. Referencing Somalia directly, Trump said it is “considered by many to be the worst country on Earth” and asserted that the “Somalian people” have caused harm in Minnesota, repeating that the situation is “not even believable.” State and local officials have not yet issued responses to Trump’s remarks.
