As for swimming, they had to go pick up over a hundred of them when the migrant 'mega dinghy' sank.

A record 230 migrants in one small boat crossed the English Channel to Britain, France's lifeboat service and UK media said on Monday, in the latest example of larger numbers of people packing into a single vessel.
The 230, including more than 20 children, were counted aboard the rubber dinghy as it departed the northeastern French coast amid chaotic scenes late Sunday, the SNSM lifeboat service said in a statement posted online.
The number breaks the previous record for a single boat, set last month when 165 people successfully crossed the busy shipping waterway.
...A UK-bound dinghy carrying more than 150 people capsized in the Channel last week after its engine caught fire, prompting a major search-and-rescue operation.
In the latest record-breaking journey, French lifeboats escorted the dinghy up to British waters, before being relieved by the British, Jean-Marc Lamblin, the SNSM's local branch director, told the AFP news agency.
Only the best migrants have megas.

And not only do lucky British taxpayers get to pick up the proverbial tab, but the new prime minister will also have them finding berthing for the seafaring wandering souls, too.

Andy Burnham was speaking on Tuesday after protests at a migrant camp being set up near Piddington, a village near Bicester, which locals fear could overwhelm the hamlet.
Home Office figures show that in the last three days alone 911 people have made the perilous journey from France, including 230 in a single mega boat on Monday.
A total of 3,003 migrants have arrived in Britain across the English Channel since Mr Burnham became Prime Minister 22 days ago.
Mr Burnham said: "I will listen to what people are saying and respond to the concerns that they are putting forward.
The prime minister says he's going to respond to people's concerns. I'll bet.

Folks standing on the shoreline in France are awash in smuggling cash.
People traffickers are currently thought to charge around £2,000 per head for illegal passage to Britain. With about £10,000 in assumed costs for the trip, this single dinghy could have made them a staggering £450,000 profit.

It comes after a Home Office source insisted on Friday that Labour's plan to tackle the Channel crisis was 'beginning to bear fruit'.
The overnight arrivals mean more than 900 migrants reached Britain over the weekend.

How horrifying is it that the Channel is all of 22 miles wide at some points, the British still can't control hardly any of it, and they're taking to giving these behemoth rubber rafts names?

The French have told the British to be aware that there seem to be no limits on how many bodies these smugglers are willing to pack onto these open-air raft thingees.
And 'boat' is entirely too kind a description. They are no remotely boatish, just floatish.
...France’s lifeboat service has warned there is “no limit” to the number of migrants people smugglers will put on a boat to Britain.
The French national sea rescue service (SNSM), equivalent to the RNLI, warned it was seeing “more and more” large boats ferrying hundreds of migrants across the Channel.
The GBG News report says they've been pushed further down the French coast, so pack more bodies on fewer, much larger boats to make the same cha-ching. The figure estimates come close to €800K for a transit by one of these now.
