'Hurtful' German Chancellor Blasted in Outraged 'Immigrant' Poo Storm

If Friedrich Merz wasn't such a backstabbing, smarmy weasel, I'd almost feel sorry for him right now.

ALMOST

But the way I see it, the master of the Old Magoo is reaping what he's sown with broken campaign promises, and basically ignoring the wishes of a near majority of German voters by continuing to ice out the representatives they elected to the government.

So my sympathies are severely limited.

My enjoyment of the warm, fuzzy schadenfreude experienced at yet another example of the dysfunction of German society on display is, however, deep.

On Wednesday, I brought you the story of a small-town German mayor who had been brutally abused, tortured, and then stabbed thirteen times by her adopted teenage daughter. The daughter had been assisted in her attempts to cover up and clean up after the vicious attack by her brother, also an adopted child. To the shock of everyone in the country, neither teen was charged with any crime. In most quarters, the disgusted belief is that because both children were immigrants - the daughter North African, the son Haitian - their status and race played a huge role in what is referred to in Germany as a 'two-tiered' justice system.

There is one strict, unyielding standard for native Germans and something entirely more lenient, if not non-existent, for the country's newcomers, invited or not. There are also strictures placed on native Germans with regard to expressing opinions - verbally, online, etc - of the newcomers, invited or not, provoked or not, that are never applicable to those same 'migrants.'

Two-tiered.

Herr Chancellor Merz has run afoul of that line in what seems to me to be the most benign of circumstances. I guess I would have to be German and thin-skinned, but considering who's doing the squawking, that also speaks for itself.

So what happened was the Chancellor was in Potsdam on Tuesday, and a journalist asked the man what he was doing to counter the influence of Alice Weidel's 'far-right' (as they always paint them), extremely popular populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

The AfD's persistent rise in the polls is directly attributable to the miserable mess the ruling parties have made of Germany, but that hasn't 1) changed a thing direction-wise 2) stopped the press and the Left from freaking out about the rise of AfD

Every regional election has them gaining more strength in elected officials. Every poll shows them making inroads in areas where they hadn't before, and consolidating power in their strongholds.

Cue the press freakout.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THEM WAAH?!?!

Merz tried to give an answer that showed he was addressing issues that were formerly only AfD talking points, like curbing immigration.

...On October 14, Merz officially visited Potsdam, the capital of the State of Brandenburg. During a press meeting, a journalist asked him what he was doing to counter the rise of the right-wing Alternative for Germany party (AfD) in the polls.

Merz answered: “We have done a lot on migration. Our government has lowered the number [of migrants] by 60 per cent if you compare August 2025 with August 2024. But of course, we still have this problem in our urban landscape [Stadtbild in German]. And that is why the interior minister is busy with enabling deportations.”

Here's where it went off the rails for Merz.

That little word - Stadtbild or cityscape - ignited a firestorm. The Left and the Greens (whom I meant by perpetually 'thin-skinned' types) blew collective gaskets, saying what Merz had actually meant was that Germany's cities 'had a problem' and by that, he meant immigrants.

..."What exactly did you mean by that — how are you supposed to see this "problem" other than by the color of people's skin? How do you want to recognize this 'problem'? This statement is absolutely hurtful, discriminatory, and indecent. I would have expected you, Mr. Merz, to stand here today and have the courage to apologize for this sentence — that you have offended so many people in this country. That divides our society and, in the end, harms Germany. Take this sentence back — apologize."

Green Party co-leader Felix Banaszak told the DPA news agency that the comment "sends a disastrous signal." He called the remark disrespectful, dangerous, and "unworthy of a chancellor," adding that Merz was questioning whether people with migration backgrounds truly belonged in Germany. He urged him to apologize.

Socialist Left Party leader Sören Pellmann joined the demand for an apology in parliament.  "The obvious slip in your wording was not only misplaced — it has driven another thorn into our democracy," he said.

A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY

The chancellor's spokeperson told journalists to 'lighten up, Francis.' But it was too late.

The RACIST! feeding frenzy was in full swing.

...Merz’ spokesman Stefan Kornelius later referred to Merz’s remarks, telling journalists: “I think you interpret too much into it. The Chancellor was merely talking about the change of course in migration policy by the new federal government.”

Merz’ comments were also struck from the official record of the press meet-up in Potsdam.

Leftist politicians and journalists still pounced on his comments, accusing him of racism and discrimination. Green MP Helge Limburg wrote on X on October 15: “How else are we to understand this than that Friedrich Merz is complaining about too many non-white people in urban centres? That is unworthy of a Chancellor.”

Merz's comments being deleted from the press record were reportedly a result of his being identified as the Christian Democrat (CDU) leader during the exchange - 'Now I have something to say party-political' - and all official German government transcripts are required to be politics-neutral.

The press is having a terrific time piling on with the RACIST! theme in order to embarrass and isolate the chancellor further.

XENOPHOBIA ALERT

The Berlin mayor made a fool of himself mouthing the words while running away.

...Berlin Mayor Kai Wegener – who is also a member of Merz’ Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party, but considered an internal rival of the Chancellor – also distanced himself from Merz’ remarks. saying: “Berlin is a diverse, international city. This will always be visible in the urban landscape. There are problems with violence, garbage and crime, but you cannot pin that on nationality,” he said.

Words which every German knows are an outright lie, once again to shield 'immigrants' who prey on Germans.

And that 'changed cityscape' is why Germany has changed.

...According to officials, the reason isn’t lack of interest or bad weather — it’s security costs. Yes, you read that right. The country that once built cathedrals and Christmas traditions for the world now can’t afford to protect its own markets from the “new realities” of modern Europe.

After the terror attacks in Berlin and Magdeburg, regulations tightened. Concrete barriers, surveillance systems, and private security have driven expenses into the millions. For many organizers — especially private ones — the burden is simply too high. Some are shutting down altogether.

So, here we are: centuries-old traditions — gone, or behind metal fences — while the same political class that created this mess lectures the public on “tolerance.”

The Christmas market, once a symbol of community and joy, has become a crime scene waiting to happen — not because Germans changed, but because their leaders did.

Germany isn’t losing Christmas because of inflation. It’s losing it because of cowardice — and because defending your own culture has somehow become controversial.

Merz does have people sticking up for him and others telling him to stop being so wishy-washy and mean what he says.

...Nicole Büttner, General Secretary of the Liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP), also supported Merz, saying: “That is exactly the kind of political nitpicking that people are fed up with. It is not about xenophobia, but about people being able to feel safe.”

I'll bet the majority of those screaming xenophobia never liked Christmas to begin with, and won't miss those markets in any event because they always got coal or herbal supplements in their stockings.

They're so insufferable.

I don't understand how the world lets them be in charge of anything.
