DIS GUY
I tell you what.
In the long annals of exploded pecuniary hopes, sought after fame, and dreams for a monster book debut, DIS GUY has to be damn near the top of the list for all time floparooskis and utter humiliation.
Jake Tapper, pilloried as a mendacious clown from one end of the country to the other for his Johnny-Come-Lately tell-all about Joe Biden's lack of a brain during his presidency, is still resisting.
Jake Tapper, whose network facilitated the cover-up of a mentally debilitated man sitting - occasionally - in the Oval Office, going through the rote motions of the presidency when he was physically up to it...which wasn't often. And whose network then proceeded to act as if their esteemed 'newsman's' book was filled with the most significant and surprising revelations of all time.
As even John Stewart noted a month ago, how conveniently peculiar (not exactly how Stewart phrases it) that what CNN should have told you as NEWS from the beginning becomes a book they're hawking to sell to CNN's three remaining viewers long after the facts.
Jon Stewart tore into CNN Monday night, blasting the network for aggressively promoting anchor Jake Tapper’s new book about former President Joe Biden’s health — a topic Stewart said the network should have covered during Biden’s term.
“Forgetting about the fact how f–king weird it is that the news is selling you a book about news they should’ve told you was news a year ago for free,” Stewart said.
...He played a montage of Tapper plugging the book in eight separate CNN appearances before questioning the ethics of holding back information for commercial purposes.
“Don’t news people have to tell you what they know when they find it out?” Stewart said.
“Isn’t that the difference between news and a secret? ‘You won’t believe what we found out!’ No, that’s why I’m watching. Breaking news … in a week.”
And there was Tapper himself, not riding in the hero-welcoming ticker tape parades I'm sure he'd been envisioning in his head, as the release date for this monstrosity of injustice drew closer, and the first snippets of what was in it became public.
He seemed to shrink with every consecutive public appearance from the brutal and well-deserved verbal beatings.
The avalanche of video with Tapper himself doing the regime's dirty clean-up work. Any time someone called out an obviously compromised POTATUS, Tapper leapt in to vociferously deny it and then castigate the observer, ridiculing their motives, meaning, education, and mother's origins.
In the most memorable confrontation, Tapper wound up eating his vicious words to Lara Trump, but only after a barrage of negative publicity forced him into an acknowledgment.
But, again, even to Kelly, he weaseled while explaining it.
Big hound dog eyes all sad and somber, Tapper said he felt he had to apologize 'after he researched for this book' and that's when he realized Trump was right, and called her.
Really? He never saw what the rest of us saw, and he was right there the entire time?
Oh, COME ON, MAN
It's been a salvage mission for this pathetic piece of garbage ever since. It's hard to tell, as book sales are difficult to quantify, what's really happening, but signs are that it hasn't been a blockbuster. Sure, the New York Times had it on top for a couple of weeks, but they've been accused of showing favoritism, and jiggling the rankings for preferential treatment is a rumored tool.
Even so, the NYT itself was ginger around the subject. This isn't exactly rousing endorsement language.
“Original Sin,” the book Jake Tapper co-authored about Joe Biden, has received positive reviews and appears to be a sales hit. But it has also generated intense scrutiny of the longtime CNN anchor and his work.
Some ardent Biden fans who despise the book and view Tapper as a traitor were reviewing the Amazon figures. They are far from stellar.
BOOK BUST: Jake Tapper Biden Bash Drops 67% in Second Week as Viewers and Readers Reject It
...“Original Sin” — written with Alex Thompson — dropped 67% in sales for its second week. Sales were just 17k, down from 53,000 according to NPD BookScan.
...“Original Sin” has dropped to 13 on the amazon best seller list after 2 weeks at number 4.
Only seventeen thousand sold in the second week.
For all that CNN was hoping a Tapper blockbuster would pull them out of the ratings basement where they've been dwelling, it didn't happen.
More people seem to have been repelled by the charade than were lured in for the lurid details. After all, we all saw it happen in real time, even if Jake didn't...or did and tried to keep it hidden.
By the beginning of June, it was crystal clear that association with Tapper's 'Disastrous' book had already caused CNN ratings to fall off a cliff, and Tapper's show was the worst hit of their miserable line-up.
Jake Tapper’s new book, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” co-authored with Axios reporter Alex Thompson, has sparked a conversation about the ex-president’s cognitive decline while in the White House.
But the book’s release, along with Tapper and Thompson’s extensive media tour to promote it in the last month, has not helped the CNN star’s ratings — or the shows that follow his.
...“The Lead With Jake Tapper,” per Nielsen data, dropped 25% from 701,000 viewers in May 2024 to 525,000 viewers last month. Cooper and Burnett’s shows each lost more than 100,000 viewers compared to a year ago, dropping 18% year-over-year; and Collins’ show took a 24% hit compared to a year ago, going from 611,000 viewers to 462,000.
For all the floggings, Tapper still has his fingers wrapped around the last bit of fraying bark on the 'we didn't know, we sort of knew, oh, gosh, we were fooling ourselves' log he's been clinging to, trying to stay afloat.
And, my God, is it pathetic.
He's taking big hits as the Senate begins digging into the known extent of Biden's mental incapacity and who exactly peopled the cabal running the country in his stead.
"Missing the story" is a choice.

Yet, 'JUST IN' - here is Tapper, weaseling his way through another emotive performance of 'if only we'd had the courage to allow ourselves to see...'
Buy my book to find out what I'm talking about.
No.

Or don't.
The weasel keeps ignoring that we all watched as it happened.
We ALL saw it.
And we know what we're seeing now.
