Illegal Immigrants Cross Northern Border at Record Levels

Maybe the northern border could use some razor wire. While we have been distracted by the Biden border crisis along the southern border, illegal immigrants are crossing the northern border at a record pace.

Officials are asking the public to say something if they see something suspicious. By that they mean file a report.

Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia's territory is the Swanton Sector. This includes portions of Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York. Garcia is based in Swanton, Vermont. He is sounding the alarm that illegal crossings are up. Since October 1, 2023, when FY 2024 began, Border Patrol agents have apprehended more than 2022, 2021, 2020, and 2019 combined.

"The record-breaking surge of illegal entries from Canada continues in Swanton Sector'." he warned.

If the public sees suspicious activity, he asks that they file a report. One private citizen's report in Champlain, New York led to the arrest of 10 people from Bangladesh. They attempted to cross the border from Canada into the United States at that point. Bangladesh. People from all over the world are crossing our borders.

Remember when Kamala Harris was anointed as the border czar? She declared that her job would be to work on the root causes of illegal immigration. She saw her job as one dealing with Central America's Northern Triangle - El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. She has accomplished nothing other than to promise to send millions of American taxpayer dollars for jobs programs, or something. The border situation has gotten worse as Biden's term in office continues. A hard fact is that the Biden border crisis is not the fault of the Northern Triangle illegal immigrants. They play a role but illegal immigrants have crossed our southern border from over 160 countries around the world.

Kamala's play-acting about meeting with the presidents of the Central American countries and making headway was all a farce. Biden doesn't want to deal with the southern border so he gave it to Kamala. She's inept. The border is now setting records with the number of illegal aliens in the United States.

It makes sense that eventually, the northern border would also become a concern

While data has not been released for January 2024, every month since the start of Fiscal Year 2022, which began in October 2021, the Swanton sector has seen more encounters than that same month the year before, data shows. For example, December 2024 saw more encounters than any other December on record, as did December 2023 and December 2022 by that point.

The habit of the CBP is to release its monthly report updates as late into the following month as possible. The December numbers weren't released until the last Friday of January. It was a late Friday news dump. The December numbers set a record high. Don't expect the January numbers until the end of this month.

Good luck to Chief Garcia in getting the attention of the Biden administration.

The Swanton Sector is about 295 miles of the northern border. A visa is not required by Canada for travelers from Mexico.

Border Patrol officials said 15 missions have rescued 37 migrants along the northern border since October 2022, the Times reported.

Clinton County Sheriff David Favro, whose office has been involved in some of those missions, told the Times that migrants often get lost in the woods for hours or fall into freezing water and suffer hypothermia. He described a need for more "boots on the ground" to monitor the northern border. Currently, federal officials estimate about 2,200 Border Patrol agents monitor the U.S.-Canada border, which stretches 5,525 miles and is considered the longest international border in the world.

Though none is in place now, Canadian government officials are considering imposing a visa requirement for Mexican travelers after Quebec Premier Francois Legault warned Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last month to stem the flow of asylum seekers as city services were near a "breaking point," Reuters reported.

Yeah. Even Canada is waking up and realizing that it should be moving to slow the flow of asylum-seekers. Requiring a visa may help. Mostly what Canada or any other country needs is a leader who wants to close the border and maintain the country's sovereignty. A country without a secure border is not a country.
