Faux Conservative Ana Navarro Admits to Lie About Republican Congressman on 'The View'

The two faux conservatives on ABC’s The View are only too happy to oblige the live liberal New York City studio audience. They attack Republicans more than they attacks Democrats.

Case in point – Ana Navarro. She falsely claimed that Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) held a gun to January 6 protesters. Video was released by the Justice Department after a request from NBC News. The video shows Rep. Nehls confronting the protesters. He was behind a door in the House as protesters tried to get in. There was a law enforcement officer standing next to him. Nehls was talking to the protesters through the door. The officer had his weapon drawn.

Nehls was verbally confronting the protesters.

Navarro falsely accused Nehls of holding a gun and aiming it at protesters.

“That’s in the well of the House. That is a Republican congressman holding a gun to the insurrectionists who were about to break in, who were coming for them,” Navarro falsely said. “How those Republicans can then go and endorse and support and campaign for Donald Trump, who was the cause for that insurrection, who incited it and promoted [it]. How they can live with themselves, how they can pretend it was tourists touring the Capitol. How they can go around, [like] Elise Stefanik echo[ing] Trump’s words calling them hostages.”

“How dare he play with that word? How dare they try to whitewash history? And look, maybe it doesn’t work for everybody, but for me, today, I’m a single issue voter and my single issue is democracy and Trump losing,” she continued. “I can disagree with Joe Biden on policy, I have one issue I care about … Donald Trump getting nowhere near the White House ever again.”

She huffed and she puffed and she blew down the wrong person.

I remember this from January 6, 2021. Rep. Nehls is a former law enforcement officer. When he was elected to Congress in the 2020 election, he was serving as the sheriff for Fort Bend County, Texas. Fort Bend is in the Houston area so he was complimented by area Republicans and others when a photo of Nehls went viral which showed him talking to the protesters. He was described as a kind of negotiator with them, telling them what they were doing was wrong. He definitely did not point a gun at them. He was a brand new congressman and starting off his first term in the House on in a heroic way.

But, Navarro is paid to slam Republicans so she jumped to conclusions and wrongly accused Nehls. She had to admit her wrongful accusation on television.

“Yes, I misspoke. I said a Republican congressman had been holding the gun. Actually, we don’t know if it was a Secret Service or a police officer that day, but the one holding the gun, two Republican congressmen were behind the guy — the law enforcement officer — holding the gun,” Navarro continued.

It was Republican congressmen that day who were trying to reason with the January 6 protesters who turned the protest into a riot and came into the Capitol. They were trying to de-escalate the situation. Navarro wanted to see something bad from them, though, so she went full partisan hack on them.

The Republicans I least like in politics are the ones who used to make a living off the Republican Party and then were broken by Trump. Since 2015, they have switched to being Democrats or Democrat-friendly and now earn a living that way. Navarro used to be a consultant to people like Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio in Florida. She was the national Hispanic chair for Jon Huntsman’s campaign in 2011. Her husband, Al Cardenas, is a lawyer/lobbyist and former chairman of Florida’s Republican party. He is also the former chair of the American Conservative Union, CPAC’s parent organization.

Nehls was doing what he could and using his law enforcement experience to get the situation under control though he was behind a door separating him from the rioters. You can see Nehls in the blue shirt in this tweet he released on that day.

“I’ve been in law enforcement in Texas for 30 years, and I’ve never had people act this way,” Nehls said to the rioters. “I’m ashamed!” Nehls was wearing a mask with a Texas flag, as masks were mandatory in the chambers at the time.

“We’re coming in one way or another,” a rioter in the video says.

In the midst of the attack, Nehls posted on social media a picture of himself helping barricade the door as he condemned the violence.

“What I’m witnessing is a disgrace. We’re better than this. Violence is NEVER the answer,” he wrote.

As you might expect, Nehls is not happy with Ms. Navarro and her attempt to vilify him because he is a Trump supporter.

“Today, the dishonest View said I was holding a gun on January 6th,” the Texas congressman wrote. “This is a false statement and made with RECKLESS disregard for the truth. I look forward to a public apology from Ms. Navarro and speaking with their attorneys.”

Trump Derangement Syndrome is alive and well. It will only get worse as we approach the November presidential election if Trump is the Republican candidate. It is magnified because of Trump’s legal challenges which make the news cycle almost daily. The bad orange man may be returning to the White House and Democrats are losing their minds. Biden surrogates, like Ms. Navarro, will say any crazy thing they can to help Joe Biden, especially since he is doing so poorly with voters now. It is good to see one obnoxious Biden supporter come clean and admit she went overboard. Notice she didn’t actually apologize to Nehls. She doesn’t really think she did anything wrong but she doesn’t want to find herself in a lawsuit so she admits she “misspoke.”
