Things got heated on Wednesday’s episode of The View. Democrat Sunny Hostin attacked Republican Alyssa Farah Griffin with personal criticism about her former boss. Hostin hates Republicans and has made it clear she hates Mike Pence. Griffin worked for Pence in the Trump administration. Today Pence entered the Republican primary and Griffin said she wants to wait and hear more from him.
Hostin slammed Griffin saying she can’t defend Pence, though it’s unclear exactly what Griffin was supposed to be defending. With that insult out in the open, Griffin began to respond to Hostin but she wouldn’t let Griffin get a word in. Hostin filibustered the discussion by reading off a note card of all the alleged horrible things in Pence’s political record. Hostin lived in Indiana when she was a student at Notre Dame University and Pence was governor.
The discussion was a mess. Joy Behar butted in, as did Sara Haines. Hostin would not let Griffin speak.

Hostin then set Griffin off after claiming she is “incapable of defending a man” who she worked for, referring to Pence.
“Oh, no no. Why don’t you ask me a question? … I had a point I wanted to make,” Griffin hotly said, to which Hostin replied, “You said that you wanted to hear more from him. I don’t need to hear more from Pence for several reasons.”
Griffin shot back, “Well, you just accused me of something so why don’t you let me actually answer? You’re not gonna vote for a Republican ever.”
Ignoring her, Hostin carried on listing the things she dislikes about Pence, including his egregious handling of the AIDS crisis and his response to COVID-19.
As usual, Hostin is full of it. She doesn’t need to hear from Pence because she is a hyper-partisan Democrat who will never vote for a Republican. Who is she trying to kid? As to Pence’s response to COVID-19, he was heading up the White House pandemic task force and they were following the guidance of St. Fauci, the darling of the left. They hero-worshipped him. I’d say Fauci’s advice harmed people, not Mike Pence.
A big part of the story the media is hyping is that it was the first time that Griffin really blew up against a fellow host. I question the characterization of “blew up” but maybe that’s just me. It seemed like she was finally pushing back and not trying to go along so the liberal hosts would like her. She wouldn’t even have the gig if it wasn’t for Mike Pence. She worked for him and then in Trump’s White House before leaving in response to January 6, 2021. Since then she has been a strident Never Trumper. She is there because she doesn’t speak up for Republicans.
Behar told Griffin not to make it personal. Griffin said that Hostin makes it personal against her. It shows the bias – Hostin started the tiff and she’s given a pass while Griffin is essentially told to calm down. It all got so uncomfortable that Whoopi Goldberg took the show to commercial.
“This is not what the show is about. This is Barbara Walters’ legacy. Let a woman speak,” Griffin argued.
Hostin insisted it is “everybody’s view,” while Griffin argued it was just “Sunny Hostin’s view.”
Whoopi Goldberg interrupted the argument and said she felt like they program had to go to commercial break.
I’ll be honest. I don’t have much sympathy for Griffin. She knew exactly what she was getting into when she asked for the job. Didn’t she see the battles Meghan McCain had with those women? There has never been any pretense of fair treatment for Republican women. As a matter of fact, Hostin told both Ana Navarro and Griffin that they should leave the Republican Party or else they were complicit in whatever her complaint that day was. Both Republican women were hired because they previously made a living off the Republican Party.
It was good to see Griffin finally try to speak up. However, I hold out little hope that this is a new Alyssa Farah Griffin. She’s there for a paycheck, to cash in on her time in the Trump/Pence administration. She won’t jeopardize that.
