Elon Musk has Putin’s war in Ukraine on his mind. Musk fleshed out a peace proposal and make it into a Twitter poll. In the meantime, a former Ukrainian diplomat answered Musk in no uncertain terms. “F**k off!”
The Ukrainians have proven to be immensely proud of their country and fiercely battle the Russian forces invading their territory. Musk is focusing on avoiding death on the battlefield. He sounds convinced that Russia will be victorious in the end.
Musk tweeted out a poll on Monday asking respondents to weigh in on his proposal to end the war: redoing elections of annexed region under United Nations supervision, giving up the Crimean peninsula to Russia and maintaining Ukraine as a neutral country between Russia and the West.
“This is highly likely to be the outcome in the end – just a question of how many die before then,” Musk wrote. “Also worth noting that a possible, albeit unlikely, outcome from this conflict is nuclear war.”
Ukrainian diplomat Andriy Melnyk replied, “F– off is my very diplomatic reply to you.” Melnyk was Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany until the end of September. It seems Zelensky had a falling out with Melnyk and fired him.
Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky in July announced he would recall Melnyk at the end of September after the then-ambassador came into conflict with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and other German leaders. Melnyk accused the Germans of having close ties to Russia.
Melnyk reportedly called Scholz an “offended liver sausage” before he left his post, according to DW News, which is the equivalent of deeming someone a “snowflake.”
Of course, Germany did have close ties with Russia. They did so for fuel. During the Trump administration, he constantly warned Germany and other European countries about their dependence on Russia for oil and gas. They laughed him off and who’s laughing now? Russia, as it turns off the spigots and a very cold and miserable winter is predicted for Europe.
Ukraine-Russia Peace:
– Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people.
– Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
– Water supply to Crimea assured.
– Ukraine remains neutral.

Naturally, thirsty Adam Kinzinger responded. That guy will chase any little bit of acknowledgement he can get. Waiting on Liz Cheney’s response…
I have decided to enter the car business since you are now in negotiations. What do you think? pic.twitter.com/FzHiKGUcJL

The main sticking point in Elon’s peace proposal, I would imagine, is Crimea and re-doing elections in the annexed territories. Zelensky has been crystal clear from the beginning – he will cede no territory to Russia. The weak-kneed Obama and Biden administration sat back and allowed Putin to annex Crimea and continue to cause chaos in Georgia so Putin feels emboldened during the Biden administration.
Zelensky has expressed his appreciation for Musk’s help in providing Starlink satellite service so that Ukrainians can remain connected with the rest of the world. Zelensky and the rest of the Western world called the elections held in the four annexed territories in eastern Ukraine last week as shams. Putin celebrated his alleged victories and claimed the territories are now under his control.
So, in response to Musk’s peace proposal, Zelensky posted a tweet, too.

One Ukrainian warned against any “Chamberlain-style solutions”.
Dear foreigners, we understand how this war is affecting you and fears you have. But if you support people of Ukraine and want this massacre to end, help us win. https://t.co/hjzL4KwmHN

She’s right. Appeasement doesn’t work. Again, that’s a lesson from Crimea. Mad Vlad will never be satisfied until he pieces back together the Soviet Union. Fortunately, that will never happen, especially since Russia has proven to be a paper tiger.
