As we close in on the final days of the 2025 presidential campaign, an unfortunate trend has emerged, particularly when it comes to Donald Trump's campaign events. A series of "health emergencies" have been disrupting the presentations. Of course, the more recent ones seemed to involve people shooting the former president, trying to shoot him, or wandering around armed to the teeth and acting as if they would like to shoot him. But last night's event in the suburbs of Philadelphia saw a number of audience members escorted from the premises because of originally unidentified health issues.Nobody had been shot, thankfully, but they turned out to be suffering from the effects of overheating.  Former President Donald Trump vowed to make housing, energy and groceries more affordable at a town hall Monday night in the country’s largest swing state before ending the event early after multiple audience members experienced health emergencies.

Trump, 78, blasted Vice President Kamala Harris for presiding over high interest rates and inflation that hiked consumer prices about 21% since President Biden took office — before calling off the forum in the Philadelphia suburbs as overheated attendees in the packed space were taken away.

“Let’s make this a musical fest,” Trump improvised — calling on his staff to blast opera icon Luciano Pavarotti’s “Ave Maria” and other songs before leaving the stage with a call-out to his supporters to turn out and vote.

It's true that a crowded hall can generate a lot of body heat, but popular venues like that one are designed to handle crowds like that on a regular basis. Perhaps I've just been covering American politics for so long that I can smell a conspiracy around every corner these days, but something doesn't sound right about this. I checked the weather for that location during the time of the event and the temperature was around 41 degrees. Even with the size of a typical Trump event, climate control should have been able to handle that. Are we sure that's all that was going on?

Trump seemed to do a good job zeroing in on Harris' weak points before the "health emergencies" began decimating the crowd. He hit on the Biden-Harris record of spending, particularly the higher interest rates for mortgages, credit card bills, and other things people can no longer afford. Trump lost this county in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia in the last two elections and he would dearly love to carry it this time.

One rather curious choice was the selection of music Trump's team picked out for his exit. They blasted opera icon Luciano Pavarotti’s “Ave Maria” and other songs. Don't get me wrong here... I've got nothing against Pavarotti. He's a classic to be sure. But this was a North Philly crowd Trump was addressing. They're famous for down-and-dirty street rock. One of my (very minor) claims to fame back in the day was getting winged in the head by a beer bottle chucked at me by the drummer from Z.Z. Top in a bar on South Street. Pavarotti might have been just a tad bit upper crust for that crowd.
