Residents of California are no doubt familiar with Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid health care program. It is intended for children and adults with limited income and resources. But starting yesterday, the program is open to a new, large pool of beneficiaries. The state is allowing more than three-quarters of a million illegal migrants to access Medi-Cal and request healthcare wherever they may be. And unlike the state’s legal residents who have to cover various co-pay costs and other out-of-pocket expenses, the migrants will get everything absolutely free. That’s very generous of them, isn’t it? But as the New York Post editorial board points out, not only is this unfair to the state’s legal residents, it’s patently absurd. The state’s healthcare system is already strained to the breaking point, so how do they expect to make this work?
America needs a strategy to control the impact of this lawless migration on our quality of life.
Instead, the Democratic Party merely virtue signals, saying, “Welcome, take whatever we have.”
As of Jan. 1, California is offering Medi-Cal to 760,000 undocumented migrants of all ages.
California’s health-care system is already strained, with long emergency-room wait times and a dire nurse shortage.
The state is facing record-long emergency room waiting times and they are in the midst of a shortage of nurses that has been called “dire.” They already don’t have enough beds or space in mental health facilities to move their armies of homeless drug addicts off of the streets and into treatment. And the state is also staring down the barrel of a $68 billion budget deficit.
Now they are going to dump almost a million more people into the healthcare system who will contribute precisely no funds or resources to it. The obvious and inescapable result is that Californians will wait longer for care and settle for less of it if they are fortunate enough to be seen. None of this even begins to address the fact that an offer like this is just one more added incentive for even more migrants to make their way here, enter the country illegally, and choose California as their final destination when Joe Biden’s free airline flights pick them up.
When I sarcastically mentioned above how “generous” of an offer this is, I neglected to point out precisely who is on the hook for all of this generosity. Right on the Medi-Cal website linked above, you will see that the program is “supported by federal and state taxes.” In other words, you’re paying for this. And I mean all Americans, not just Californians. Did anyone vote for a plan such as this? I don’t recall being asked.
California is not alone in this, by the way. Several other states are already offering free healthcare to undocumented migrants, though some limit the offer to specific age groups. New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and several others are already operating programs like this, even if the fact goes vastly underreported in the legacy media. Fights are breaking out over the high cost of prescription drugs and long wait times to see specialists. And that’s for the legal citizens of our country. But the migrants don’t need to worry. They won’t have to pay a dime. In some cases, they won’t even have to provide an ID, to say nothing of an insurance card.
You might be asking how so many state officials could be so dumb as to set up self-destructive programs such as these. Can’t they see what this will lead to? The answer is that they know perfectly well what they are doing. This is a strategy on the part of the Democrats. Overwhelm the system until you create a full-blown crisis. Then you wait for the system to collapse, making everyone more dependent on the government for survival and more prone to accept some sort of socialist solution.
This doesn’t just need to stop. It needs to never have been started in the first place. The country was already struggling, particularly under “Bidenomics.” We’ve been doing a poor job of just taking care of our own people. Now the White House has let in as many as ten million more who will soak up the available resources and Joe Biden is showing no signs of slowing down. This insanity has to end. This invasion is a disaster of Joe Biden’s making and it’s threatening to bring down the country from the inside.
