Recently, Canada has issued a list of egregious statements following the U.S. and Israeli line on Iran, despite casting itself as the torch-bearer of a new, post-American world order.
Most recently, on October 12th, Canada issued a diplomatic statement, joining a list of Western and NATO countries, including Trump’s United States, in condemning Iran’s “use of violent attacks… against us and our partners.”
Nowhere in the statement is the mention of these attacks being blowback for the illegal war in Iran – which has killed scores of civilians and in which Western forces have committed numerous war crimes including bombing water and electricity plants, fuel sources, schools, and hospitals – and to Israel’s multi-country colonial slaughter across the Levant to create a Greater Israel, armed, funded, and backed directly by Canada.
Iran and Iranian proxies have already conducted significant retaliatory attacks against Western forces – proportional to the targets struck by its adversaries – but it seems easier for Canada and others to simply ignore the causes of the conflict, or that Iran, under international laws of war, has a right to defend itself.
